Super Metroid and Shadow of the Colossus are the two best games ever made. They define almost the entire industry to this day. Including subject matter. If it weren't for Castlevania sistering itself to SM's legacy, and how crazy influential Doom turned out to be, I think that would be pretty much indisputable. Like, every indie ever is now modeled off of SotC in some way. Dat marketing. If you're playing a 2D game, there's an insanely good chance it incorporates elements directly from Metroid. ...
