Pretty ignorant about government and stuff. But seems to me this Left vs Right is too much beyond repair and wonder if there is a better system. Seems like there is no middle ground and people think since they are on one side, they have to agree with everything their side says. Each side makes generalizations of the other side. I was telling my buddy it seems like Americans act like their political party is a sports team and somebody has to win at all times. --- I wash myself with a rag on stiiick ... Copied to Clipboard!

"Two major power blocs" isn't uncommon even in countries with more than two major parties. It's just how people sort themselves --- Not removing this until Mega Man 64 is released on the Wii Virtual Console. Started on: 12/1/2009 http://i.imgur.com/mPvcy.png ... Copied to Clipboard!

A lot of countries do, others don't. A lot of countries with more partues end up having two coalitions anyway, or only two parties end up being relevant. Like the UK or Canada ... Copied to Clipboard!

Although there's usually 2 or 3 largest parties in most democracies, it usually tends to be less polarized when there are multiple parties, both in the ruling cabinet and in the opposition. In some countries it's even quite rare that one single party ever has an absolute majority, and coalitions are the order of the day. This usually leads to more cooperation, at least more than that of a system where it's always one party vs the other about literally every litter matter. Doom_Art posted... This is such a banal and inaccurate observation every time it comes up lol You're right. In the U.S. it's more like regular right wing vs extremely batshit insane far-right wing. --- One time, CE triggered me so hard with their objectively wrong opinions that I accidentally punched myself in the balls. ... FLAMING EVIL HOMER posted... Which countries are considered to have good goverments and what do they do?Germany is considered pretty good. France is also up there though it comes with a bit of an asterisk that whomever is in power is hated while everyone else is loathed. And the big thing is that they don't allow for terrorism to take over everything. Merkel is conservative but her lack of allowing nationalism to flourish puts her further left than 99.9% of US politicians. To some extent that holds true of basically any developed nation as there are no developed nations that are further right than the US sans China and Russia, both of which are generally regarded as pretty crappy even when faced with what America goes through.
