It's really tough when a colleague you sort of know because you occasionally do some work together leaves to get another job. It's really a must-attend event, no matter what's going on.

I mean I wasn't able to visit my father in hospital after he had a stroke because of the lockdown rules, but it's just a matter of how important the event is. The fact that his recovery and mental health suffered because we had to abide by the rules and now he has a diminished quality of life is immaterial. I mean, a colleague had some drinking to do! You can't even compare these situations.

Anyway he apologised so I don't know what anyone is complaining about.

You can tell how truly sorry he is by his immediate jump to calling Starmer, Vladamir and using other shitty names to slag him off about his one drinks gathering after campaigning.

can we just move on from the fact that our leaders are liars and hippocrites who serve themselves more than the people, and focus on something more positive like how it's nearly time to celebrate the useless antiquated monochary who suck up tax and pay none back?

The only thing British people hate more than the tories are themselves and immigrants. That's why we keep voting for the tories.

The UK is ridiclously right wing

Tories have an 80 seat majority and have been in power for a decade.

When the liberals tried to compromise and form a coalition with them, they got absolutely obliterated.

Most of the population doesn't care about reality and votes right wing no matter what. The biggest chunk of what's left just flat out don't care.

Most of the people who voted Brexit did so because they thought it would make the brown people go away.

And that's not hyperbole. I spoke to these people for years trying to find decent pro-Brexit arguments and never heard a single one. It was all xenophobic rhetoric and Chest thumping.

Scottish independance is the same.

A big part of it is that the voting areas are set up to give tories far more power than their seats represent. With a minority of support from the population they get easy majoritys in power.

That and much of the elderly population has been convinced that labour will bring socialism! and spell the death of everything they love and hold dear.

I think the UK is less scared of socialism than the USA is, but that fear tactic is just repackaged as rabble rabble, polish and muslims
