I really like the 3D effect and the games, but if I play it for longer than 1 hour, I feel sick, like I'm getting motion sickness or something.

Because VR causes motion sickness in some people.

It depends on the game, some handle it well, some do not. Motion sickness happens when your brain sees you moving but your not doing the action to move, like walking. It gets confused and makes you sick. But if your doing something natural like sitting in a cockpit and moving, your brain knows that's normal and you don't get as sick. Or games like Beat Saber where you stand still, there's no way to get motion sick from just standing.

You can also train yourself to handle it better. I couldn't play Half Life Alyx for more than 10 minutes without a headache at first, but by the end I could play in hour stretches and feel fine.

because its a 30 pound device strapped to your head emitting a bunch of radio waves. not to mention you staring into a lens that magnifies the screen directly into your pupil. oh, and the headset audio gives you vertigo after a while.

That's usually how long my VR gaming sessions last in a single stretch. After an hour I'll take off the headset and get a drink or something, then decide if I want to play again. But I think I can play Half Life Alyx for the whole game straight and not get sick at this point.
