For me it's when someone is injured beyond any chance of survival, and are on the ground bleeding out, yet still try to stand only to fall over or slip on their own blood repeatedly. Bonus points if they say "I don't want to die yet." That is something that will always make me tear up.

Danganronpa spoilers.
Chiaki Nanami's death is a perfect example. I cried for 3 hours. Uncontrollable sobbing. It was rough.

Happy example: when a show's theme song kicks in right as the momentum changes in the hero's favor during the final battle. I have to contain myself from jumping out of my chair almost every time.

Sad example: when the team/group say their goodbyes as they move on to the next stage of their lives/journey, knowing that they'll likely never see each other again.

Oh, looking for sad tropes

dunno the name of the tropes, but when basically as someone is dying and they are performing their final act. Whether they successfully complete their objective or fail. Like:

ff14 stormblood spoilers tsukuyomi having just been fatally wounded by the warrior of light, but in their last dying moments she manages to kill the first person she ever promised to kill, her brother

mass effect 3 spoilers renegade Shepard shooting mordin and walking away. Mordin bleeding out and dragging himself towards the computer console to stop the genophage, but dying before he reaches it

Anyway for me it's when the people closest to a character wrongly lose faith in them and horribly emotionally wound them as a result

Kinda the ultimate version of this happens in Steel Ball Run:

I'm also a big fan of orphans or otherwise disaffected youth making grave sacrifices in order to seek approval from the neglectful or underappreciative adults in their lives

Something that always makes me angry is when a character gets falsely accused of something and they aren't able to convince other people of the truth.

Did you actually finish the series? @CryoForceOmelet

The story concludes with Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope Peaks High School. It's an anime.

Oh, a happy trope I enjoy is a character coming back to life. But only if it's done well in a manner that makes sense.

Bad example.
Jojo's Bizarre Adventure spoilers:
Avdol coming back to life was kind of dumb. That bullet went into him, it didn't graze him.

Good example.
Assassination Classroom spoilers:
When Kayano gets speared and Koro sensei gathers all of her cells and blood mid-fight so he can re assemble them. This is well done in my opinion because it's shown earlier in the series that he's capable of something like this when Karma spills soup and he gathers it all mid air.

For me sacrifice, especially from a place of guilt
Beast at the end of Beauty and the Beast
End of Terminator 2
Kinda the end of TDKR
Varian at the beginning of WoW Legion
End of Lucifer

People or groups realizing finding their similarities is more important than continuing to dwell on differences
Hunter Killer
End of JLU
Command & Conquer 3 (4 never existed)
Ultima 6

Devoted or even programmed purpose being challenged
King Arthur 2004
The Eternals
Legend of Dragoon
