Not only does it violate the rights of the child in every way, but the parents aren't even affected by the it in any way. The only way they can possibly affected by their child not being circumcised is emotionally (which, shouldn't matter at all in this scenario.) Its a decision made upon one person, affecting them for life, that the parents can just thoughtlessly deicde at will.

And, on the flipside of the argument is "religious freedom" despite the fact they are imposing a religiously-motivated decision on someone else, thereby depriving them of their religious freedom not only as a newborn, but all throughout their adult life.

Indenfensible.

You don't need the word "religious" in that title. It's just as bad even when no religion is involved. (Obviously, the very rare cases where there's a legitimate medical reason are an exception.)

The TC is right. As a non-religious act, infant circumcision is almost always indefensible (outside of extreme circumstances due to medical complications, which people always like to bring up as a defense, but which practically never apply). As a religious act, it is always indefensible.

No, it is not. Both involve someone who "doesn't know anything else" until they're told about it. Both involve violating a person's rights, from an age at which they have no input into it. One is more severe, for sure, but as far as "they don't know otherwise" is concerned, it's a perfectly valid comparison. Just because they are not literally identical in every single way, doesn't negate that they are comparable in the particular way that's relevant to the point at hand.
