Sakamoto originally wanted to Samus to be naked when she game over'd, but Nintendo was like ".......naaaaaah", so I guess they let him jiggle some titties as compensation.

Nintendo is absolutely no stranger to more mature works. Aside from Metroid, they also have Fire Emblem, Xenoblade, and Astral Chain, and even published Eternal Darkness, Fatal Frame, Bayonetta 2, and Devil's Third (even if that last one was a POS).

Just because they mostly do family-friendly stuff doesn't mean that they're unwilling to release darker, more mature games from time-to-time.

Metroid Prime exists. Hell, Dread exists and that's the newest one.

You do see her clothes deteriorate, so it's implied the clothes would come off >_> Nintendo just doesnt think the world is ready for uncensored official Samus titties yet

That flash effect can cause seizures. They should re-release the game without it.

Metroid had very little translation needed, that's the deal: it works in any region just have to change the little story text.

Naked would be fine for Japan, but they new America had not freed the nipple.

Funnily enough, you can more-or-less see a naked Samus in the original Super Smash Bros, when she's hit with an electric attack and you pause on her at the right time.
