My mother has one and I think the folding mechanism sucks. It just feels stiff and awkward, like you're breaking it every time you open it.

I really want to get the Flip3, but the unreliable folding tech worries me.

The few times I've seen one were friends who got it. They all seem to like it, but there is a very noticeable crease in the screen when opened, and its kinda bulky when closed. Definitely not for me, but none of them seem to regret it

No issues with the fold 3 I had, not sure what the above user is saying that it felt like you were breaking it; the mechanism is smooth and doesn't flop like the first fold.

It is however bulky and heavy, unless you have a purse or bag you tend to carry your belongings in.

I had a Flip 3, gave it to my daughter when I got an S22 Ultra

Even though the Ultra is huge, I much prefer it. My daughter does love the Flip though.

The Flip was very bulky with a case, close to an inch thick. Really uncomfortable to put in pockets. Without a case it wasn't bad, but it also felt delicate, so I was worried about fucking it up.

I have a zflip 3 and it's a really fun phone to use. Yet, there's a chance the screen could break.

My biggest con is the screen and battery. My screen has tiny scratches that is caused by my fingernails unfortunately.

As for the battery, it sucks...

Overall I can't imagine myself spending nearly $2K for the fold when samsung themselves are refusing to repair customers repairs. Look up the zflip/fold reddit communities and there are hundreds of stories where samsung are refusing to repair screens. So yea.. it's BS.

Imo, either go with zflip3, or a regular phone. The fold is too risky imo. Yet, the screen damage is still low. Depends on how you take care of it. I baby my flip3 monthly.

Love my Fold 3. It's nice to have a tablet you can put in your pocket and make calls with. The inner screen glass isn't as weak as you think. If you don't have long fingernails or put it close to sharp objects it probably won't scratch. You also likely use the outer screen more when in public running errands. Battery life although is a bummer. Definitely will be low at the end of the day and it needs to be charged each night. I say it's worth it if you like to multitask on your phone.

I have a Z Fold 3 and it is by far the best phone I ever had. I got it on release day on August 27th, and nine months later, it still works exactly as it should, so it survives the durability test to me.

Honestly, after having a foldable phone, I can never go back to the tiny screens of a regular phone. I hope these phones are here to stay.

Also, let me add some pros and cons since I'm already talking about it.

Pros:
Large screen for watching videos and reading articles
Stylus is smooth and feels good to take notes
Screen is very durable
The multi-window features is amazing and lets me use multiple apps at the same time (my favorite feature)
You can do a half-fold so that it works as its own stand for hands-free use and video-viewing

Cons:
Battery life isn't very good, will just barely last a whole day of heavy use; it's better if you use battery-saver mode
The software can get buggy when you constantly open and close the phone while using the app, which can crash your app you are using
Bulkier than most phones on the market out there
Expensive pricepoint to buy
Stylus and stylus-holder case have to be bought separately

Overall, the pros outdo the cons for me.

I mean, I was one of those guys talking about how risky it was before even touching one.

But after? Dude, that hinge is solid as a rock. If theyre not doing repairs on them, thats an issue, but as far as the build, its quality.

Have a fold 3
Pros: it stops me having to use a fucking tablet all the time
Cons: the screen when folded is slightly narrower than most phones of that height so it can be annoying at times

Wasn't a fan. Went back to my Note20 Ultra after giving it a few weeks. Folded screen is too narrow and unfolded is too big for practical usage. Battery life was also a no go.

I'm disappointed in how shitty Samsung has become with their stuff in the past 2-3 years. Their customer service is horrible nowadays. They've been ignoring tons of issues. Like the green screen of death or the wifi/cpu/gpu throttling that their S20-S22 line have been suffering, along with their refusal to fix issues with their foldable devices.

foldable phones crease down the center and it basically becomes a row of dead pixels or unusable pixels. its more like two separate screens attached to eachother than one large screen. once they fix the creasing issue i might switch from apple back to samsung. by then, foldable phones might be high enough quality for apple to release their own
