I'm not entirely sure. I just know that it was passion fruit flavored. I'm at a bar with friends and one of them wanted me to try to their drink.

I've already advised AA of you location. It's going to be a long road to recovery.

Could be you had something too sweet? I've strayed away from the overly sweet drinks in the past five years or so, they're hangover juice.

Try like, gin and tonic or something fairly inoffensive like that.

That drink was made with "well" alcohol. That's the lowest quality of alcohol, and is only slightly better than rubbing alcohol.

Yeah, I remember the first time I went to a dive bar and ordered a rum coke after having rum&cokes in college. Now, Captain Morgan's ain't going to win any awards, but it's certainly better than the fucking Myers' Dark Rum they used.
I would probably think rum sucked if that was my first impression, honestly.

There's alcohol out there for everyone. I always make it a mission to find something for my friends/family to enjoy if they aren't as experienced with it

For me, it was the combination of poor emotional regulation and having no healthy coping mechanisms. I liked the feeling of being intoxicated enough to ignore that I absolutely hated what I tasted those first few times, leading to an almost 14 year stint of loving the taste of it that ended with me cycling back to drinking the same cheap shit I hated at first because all I wanted to do was get drunk and that was the most cost-effective way to do so.

I don't deal in regret too much anymore but there have been many times, in both drunkenness and sobriety, that I wish I had just been like, "Fuck that's gross," and moved on.

Some are nasty as fuck some are good. Basically alcoholic soda.

You don't start off with one of the messed up drinks. You either start with a traditional cocktail, a whisky sour (which is my personal favorite alcoholic drink), or a simple mixed drink that isn't too strong. Passionfruit is kind of a messed up flavor to begin with. Either you really like it, or really hate it.

I drink it because it gets me drunk, not because it tastes good. And drinking some Coke right after taking a shot of liquor helps a lot.

i think most people dislike the taste of alcohol when they first try it. but since it 'feels good man', people learn to associate the taste with that good feeling and eventually come to enjoy it.

Screwdriver is my go to. Vodka and orange juice. Takes away the sting of the alcohol and has a familiar taste to override any of the less pleasant tastes you might notice from the vodka.

Because we are used to drinking that they have to be that strong to feel anything

considering you can mix anything you want (people make beer floats for example), "alcohol" has the full range of flavors in it. you'll find something you like if you care enough.

but if you don't like it, that's cool, too.

This. You're mouth will get used to the alcohol burn soon enough and no longer burn. Similar to people that eat spicy stuff. The more you try it, the less it'll burn. After that, you'll just taste the other flavors. I didn't start drinking until I was ~22 and wanted to see what all the fuss as about. Started off with goldschlager cause the alcohol burn was hidden under the cinnamon burn. lol

Not that I'm trying to convince TC to keep drinking. Just making them aware that their one sip of a random drink should carry zero weight in there opinion on alcohol.
