You can play shit like DeadCells or Binding of Isaac or Hades where 99% of the gameplay is 'hope you get a good run' but actual RogueLikes are more like 'yo might have an RNG death in first ten minutes but after that if you die 99% of the time it's on you' as opposed to shit like DC where it's better hope you can hit actions per minute to surive and get good luck'

Yes! This describes my experience with DeadCells my perfectly. Its my first (and only) experience with the genre and it wasnt a great one.

I wouldnt mind trying something better.

I didn't like it either. Runs felt way too samey and it committed the ultimate sin of allowing me to get to a DLC area only to tell me I had to buy said DLC to continue.

Hades is better in every single way IMO

Holy crap yes

DC:SS is pretty much a fairly simple (to play early on) RL.
You'll be using the Wiki a lot tho once you get past the first few floors

Minotaur fighter is probably one of the most straight forward ones.
I would strongly recommend you have a numpad to play. If you don't, it might be harder. It's all turned based.

More graphics, some paid (not needed) DLC, and progresses with some unlocks.
So like, you don't have a summoner class early on but you can unlock it and start with it on a new playthrough

If you like card games: Slay the Spire. Definitely not a fucking roguelike but still fun and has the RNG aspect and clear endgame.

RLs are games that can take several months to 'win'
