They could try to remake it as 4chan.somecountrystld without losing much of anything. You'd end up with a lot of link rot as stuff pointing to .com wouldn't work anymore which would hurt SEO and damage traffic of the site greatly. If nobody wanted to give chan another name, they could still run on https://ipaddress but this would be even worse. But let's say the hosting company decides they also don't want to do it anymore. They can just run their own hosting with an ISP contract. It would be pretty expensive to run your own hardware though. You're going to run into a break somewhere along this chain and I've got bad news that the break most likely ends before getting to VeriSign who after decades has yet to revoke the westboro baptist church website name which I will not type here. --- It says right here in Matthew 16:4 "Jesus doth not need a giant Mecha." https://i.imgur.com/dQgC4kv.jpg ...
