I'm not a fan of Homecoming, but I feel like it's transition to The Otherworld is probably one of the best in the series.

Downpour better tho.

I liked it, but the otherworld just having some dudes in hazmat suits was pretty lame, IMO.

I wasn't a fan of Downpour, though.

bad game that forces you into combat harder than any other silent hill while simultaneously having terrible combat that you can effortlessly mash a single button to beat every enemy with

at least sh2 and 3 let you run away most of the time

Shitty running sequences over and over, a dumb plot line. The only good parts were how things changed depending on your choices, that was neat.

the story isn't even that good, from what i remember. definitely on the weaker side. downpour was a step up but not a good enough step.

the vita one was legit fun though.

IIRC You use the knife throughout the entire game because everything else sucked.

I liked it to some degree. Not perfect, and certainly not as good as 3 which is my favorite but still ok.
I actually had no problem with the combat and loved the monster design and plot with the families.
Alex's Theme is also really good.

Downpour had much worse monster design but a decent story.
I feel both would be panned but maybe appreciated just out of withdrawal symptoms.
