kinda? i feel like the overall atmosphere was a lot more right-wing in the past, but nowadays it's more concentrated and organized

the stuff people were posting on gamefaqs on a daily basis about minorities/lgbt/etc in the early 00's would get you banned anywhere today lol. but they weren't attached to this really modernized distinct online movement, they were just everyday people who leaned republican.

It's the proper term for these people that try to portray themselves as "cool" conservatives online, like Lauren Southern, Milo, The Quartering, and Tim Pool. These people are often referred to, erroneously, as "alt-right" even though that was just a segment of white supremacists that went into a severe decline after Charlottesville.
