Every game coming out is either a MTX-infested cash grab or some forgettable indie bullshit.

Every movie coming out is either about superheroes or a reboot.

Every TV show coming out is either a reboot, or something derivative of (insert prestige television drama here).

I think this is more a byproduct of targetted advertising making it harder and harder to learn about stuff that isn't already in your list of consumed products.

Like... there are a ton of great new indie games and a ton of great shows/movies that aren't about superheroes. You just wouldn't hear about them if that's mostly what you've consumed because all the advertising pointed at you is going to emphasize Dr. Strange and not, say, Pig.

I disagree. There's a lot of really good media out there, especially in the indie scene of games, movies, and music.

There's just too much out there these days. It's a quality vs quantity thing. There is a lot of shit out there for sure. But with so many things coming out, there's also an abundance of great things. You just gotta know where to look.

We need GTA 6 asap not another fantasy game

I feel media is so homogenized. Even when something is good it is just a variation of something done before. It feels like a mass production of products catering to the biggest denominator. Almost nobody wants to take risks anymore cause producers, publishes need the biggest return possible on their investments.

I have two 20lb weights that I've been messing around with, but it does nothing for me. Unfortunately I can't go on walks because I live on a busy block and the last time I tried doing that, one of my neighbors joked about how they never see me leaving the house. That's the exact kind of thing that I fear.

Nope, video games and TV have never been better. I always watched a ridiculous amount of TV but I think Ive finally reached the point where I have too many shows that I want to watch at the same time.

The only media that kind of sucks now are movies. All of them just feel so sanitized and predictable now. I havent seen anything in the past couple of years that feels like itll become a classic.

I think there's just too much of it. Games are easier to acquire and horde than ever, same with shows and movies. It's all right there instant access.

Still playing video games everyday and enjoying myself... Always have great games releasing every year... Don't watch many shows but I've enjoyed the ones I've watched

Video games - you're not wrong, but I do acknowledge it is harder to branch out and find what is truly a good game vs. what is something just being sold to you by advertisers and sponsors. You've gotta spend a lot of time and a lot of money finding games that you'll enjoy that are also outside your comfort zone.

Movies - you are totally right on this one. everything is a reboot, remake, or continuation of something already established. doesn't make them bad, but the lack of originality is insane.

TV - disagree with you here. there is so much quality TV to choose from, present and past, that doesn't stem from something prior. Shows like Barry, Succession, Ozark, and Severance are A+ tier television (with the exception of Ozark's recent episodes).

And with the huge influx of multiverse movies that weve had in the past couple of years and that well continue to have going forward I think people will get tired of the multiverse concept quickly. Even though this movie used the multiverse concept better than all the rest I dont know if people will still care about it in a few years

Currently addicted to Escape from Tarkov and I look forward to playing it when I have free time so no lol.

Movies I'm doing fine with.

Video games much less so and it's because of all the microtransactions and DLC BS.

TV shows are hit or miss. Some of the new shows feel really empty because, as I've said before, it feels like it's basically a movie that's been stretched thin.

Yes I am burnt out. I've followed quarantine hard and barely talk to anybody now. But I still love mame and retro games so media being bad now is a byproduct of a burnt out world making boring things

I went to a book store the other day and even all the books seemed boring as fuck. Even the old classic books I was meh about(or maybe just meh about buying and having time and energy reading). I dunno everything just seems meh. Still love Philip k dick and Alan Moore tho

I been getting more and more bored with gaming, but I still do it because I don't want to lose it as a hobby. It's practically the only one I have.

Literally current year and people still bitching about "indie bullshit" games. Some of the best things have been coming out of small studios for well over a decade now.

And I can't name 3 non-multiplayer AAA or AA games that I've bought in the last 5 years that were riddled with microtransactions.

Do what I do and start getting into old shit
