They just finished installing everything. We went with Tesla and got batteries installed in the garage. Just in time for summer when it gets crazy hot out here. We will also quality for a pretty nice tax credit next year too.

Nice! I just signed the contract and theyll be installing around 2 months from now pending roof inspection and structural analysis, permits etc. Itll be like 40 bucks more of what Im currently paying, but having no power outages, going clean energy is definitely worth it plus its a locked payment.

Yeah they just installed after we signed a couple of months back and they noticed some cracked tiles on the roof that we had to fix first. Out utility company raises prices 4 times over one year. So glad we dont have to deal with that anymore.

Awesome. There is something satisfying about it.
I use Solar but on a much smaller scale.
But there were times I got home and didn't realize the power was out until I opened the refrigerator.

Also, I was able to go three years without ever plugging my phone into the mainline power.

I wish you would've went with SunPower based Solar Panels.

https://us.sunpower.com/blog/2020/02/14/which-solar-panels-are-most-efficient

https://sunpower.maxeon.com/int/solar-panel-products/maxeon-solar-panels

They have the highest Efficiency & Durability of all Solar Panel makers.

Their Solar Panels are good enough for NASA

It is satisfying. Clean energy and the electric utility company can shove their price hikes. We were paying 50% more for 10% more usage over the last couple of years.

My husband is the one who did all the research and picked one. I know he talked to sunpower and a couple of others. Dont know what made him pick one over the others tbh.

I looked into that. I like the idea of the battery storing the solar power. Was a bit cost prohibitive and we have a lot of tree coverage around our house so not sure it would be as effective as it could be.

Also my shitty state wouldn't give me any tax breaks for going with solar

Maybe one day

Yup, I was at the point where it was costing me more to get energy then it did for the volume of energy I got.
Granted I live alone with a cat, but still it sucks that that would be possible. Kind of a fun challenge though.
