I noticed that in a lot of the Mothers day topics, many people said that their moms had died. I thought Id make this topic for those of us who only have her in our memories.

Please post some of your favorite memories you have of your mom, even if your relationship wasnt the best. Id like this to be a positive topic if possible

My favorite memories of my mom are of her reading to me. Every night, shed pick up a fantasy book, curl up on my bed and read 1-2 chapters for my siblings and I. I loved every second of it and held onto every word. Shed tell tales of dragons, fairies, sirens and all sorts of mythical creatures. Then, after the chapter was finished, if any of us complained for her to read more shed grab us by the ankles and pull us in for a tickle fight.

I still remember her soft voice reading for us and her laughter as we messed around afterwards. Im now a proud bookworm with only her to thank for it.

My mom threw a candle at me once because I was being an asshole. She didn't fuck around.

My mom also got drunk and chased me around with a kitchen knife once. Sounds crazy and she was drunk off her ass but she was probably just making a point. I dunno she never caught me so I never found out what would have happened.

No she was making a point. She knew how intense I was so she always had to up it and put the fear of god in me. It's the little things that make us better in life and I thank her for that.

Wait not that was my brother and he's still a loose cannon to this day.

My mom left my sister and I in the car once when she went into a friend's house to talk for a few minutes. That was all it took for my sister to disengage the parking brake and have the vehicle roll down the driveway, across the street, and into the ditch on the other side.

This is an awesome topic, thanks harpster
I've lost my mom last year in end of march to cancer,
There are so many memories but just some that stands out rightnow are how she randomly started saying how much she loved me when i called her, as if she knew what's going to happen, or when i visited her at weekends, how she squeezed me with hugs, harder than usual
I wish i could hug her one more time and tell some things i wish i could, before she passed

Sorry to hear that man. It's rough I wish I was with my mom when she died. She had been sick for years and it wasn't even cancer. That day I woke up and my dad said he had to call an ambulance for her, something inside of me knew that was gonna be the day so I called out of work and stayed home. We had been fighting the night before but I played music real loud back then and today I guess, and she heard me playing Jack Johnson and just fell in love with it and we got along for the rest of the night. It's weird shit that happens but i'm glad my last interaction with her was on a good note.

My mom died in 2004. I still remember her last words to me. My sister has the last ever message that mom wrote to her (a small dry-erase board on the fridge). It's been a long time since she died. Fuck.

Of course. I lost my mom to suicide just a few years ago. Theres a lot of pain and regret I feel but I wanted to make something positive ^^

Those sound like really sweet memories. Reading it made me start tearing up thinking back to my own mom. Its rough. But well be okay. She lives on in our memories <3

It gets easier to live with, but you never truly get over it. You just learn how to go about your day in a different manner.
