Square never seems very shy to rerelease any of their Final Fantasy games. Even the games that originally were skipped in the west have since had multiple rereleases and remasters. FF2 is widely disliked, but even that game was released on PS1, GBA, PSP, PSOne Classics, iOS, Android, and then most recently again on mobile & PC as a part of the pixel remaster series.

Yet Final Fantasy Mystic Quest is never included with anything. Weird.

Its too fucking good to be ported. I love that game. Come at me!

It's not a great game, but it's also not as bad as people make it out to be.

I've played it a couple of times and enjoyed it. The music is fucking dope too.

There are a bunch of Square/Enix related titles they still haven't released Stateside. I'm really hoping the next Nintendo Direct will show the Soul Blazer series remastered, or at the very least Terranigma.

Square said that they wouldn't remaster Chrono Trigger for many years because the original Chrono Trigger did not sell well, compared to Final Fantasy

I speculate that it is the same deal with Mystic Quest. Square only remasters games that sell. It is about money

MQ was only ever intended to be a game to warm up the west on the idea of turn based combat. There's no reason to remaster it because there's nothing to improve.

It would be interesting to see an Action adventure remake though.

I dont think anyone would expect a remaster. Just a port. Every game has been ported many times over. FFMQ just got that treatment on the Wii Virtual Console, and Im assuming due to the simplicity of putting a SNES game on a SNES emulator.

And yes, Im assuming FFMQ wouldnt be a top seller, but thats why I highlighted FF2 in my original post. They keep rereleasing that game over and over but I cant imagine it sells incredibly better than what FFMQ is capable of doing.

And yet Secret of Evermore is stuck on the SNES...

Threads of Fate is still stuck on the PS1, Brave Fencer Musashi never got re-released outside of Japan. Two of my favourite rentals growing up.

SoE is the rare Square USA game. I'm not sure Square Enix realize it exists.
