Yeah I burned like 450-500 yesterday on the peloton. Some parts of that class I was gasping for air though I really didn't think I was gonna make it through the class for about a minute.

Exercise improves your base metabolic rate, it's not just the calories you burn while doing it. Calorie intake is numerically and immediately more important, but dieting with exercise improves weight loss, quality of life and adequate weight mantainence significantly more than just cutting calories.

This, the calories you burn during cardio are just a bonus, since they are pretty small compared to the rest of the numbers.

There is a good video of a super fit guy eating 10,000 calories one day, and it was not that difficult. The next video he tried to burn 10,000 calories in one day, and he worked himself to the bone for the entire day and was only able to get to 7,000, and he said it was absolutely brutal. Hell a marathon only burns about 2700 calories on average.

Diet is definitely the most important thing for weight loss, you cannot out exercise a poor diet unfortunately.

I'm on an intensity of 8 and went for ~8 mph for like 20-25 minutes before I started tiring for a few minutes; still kept it above 7 mph though.

No, Im saying theres a lot that factors into a calorie count that a simple calculation cant account for (the persons body, the wattage of the machine itself, etc) so dont get down on yourself over a meaningless number

the only thing its really good for is comparing your own personal performance between days. (Like always shoot for a certain calorie count on a given machine)

340 in 30 min is not bad at all. if you did that 10 times you've burned off a pound of fat. 10 times is not a lot for 30 minute sessions. and that's not including everything else you've done throughout the day so it's actually faster than that

If you're also eating at a recommended calorie deficit, you're not going to maintain that type of momentum for very long

And if you are somehow running almost 13 miles (at a 5:45 or so pace!!!), then that is awesome. Seems questionable though.

Tried some HIIT today because my knees were sore as fuck 2-3 minutes on the elliptical and I definitely didn't think I was able to go as hard as I did on Saturday. Upped the intensity to 12 and just kinda wanted to go at a walking pace but went hard for 30 secs with 2 mins of slower walking ~1/3rd in when I powered through my knees dying.

Burned 350 calories in 30 minutes

See this is another example of how calorie counts are inaccurate, because the purpose of HIIT is to increase your metabolism for the period after your workout (and hence burn more calories) and theres no way for a machine to capture that

Technically you can cut more, it's just harder to stick to it, if you go too extreme. 500 a day is about a pound a week.

If you're eating less per day and also exercising, then the weight will come off faster than you think. Just keep at it.
