Of all places, a random Meijer in the middle of mid Michigan. The only reason I even asked was that they no longer kept consoles out on the floor and there was a sign to say ask for them. And for some reason I decide to check the website and it said they were in stock but limited quantity and unable to order online. I took the off chance that maybe they got a shipment in and Meijer isnt a place you normally check for game consoles, but they went in the back and couldn't find it anywhere they normally store them. So I went about finishing my grocery shopping and then one of the people working there runs up to me holding a PlayStation 5 box that looks so dirty I'm pretty sure it's been sitting back there since launch.

Oh, do I need to keep my PS4 at this point? The PS5 is fully backwards compatible with digital and disc games?

You could mod your PS4 I guess. But no, the few exceptions to backwards-compatibility basically don't matter.

Sell your PS4. You can probably still get a decent price for it

If you have P.T. on your PS4 and care to keep it, it's the only way to still play it. It cannot be downloaded again on PS5 from what I understand.

Well it starts up so that's a good sign.

So I now have an updated Switch (bought in 2019 after selling my launch one so it has the longer battery life, probably gonna skip the OLED due to not playing much outside of docked more), a XSX, a PS5, and a pretty solid gaming laptop.

It also continues my streak of owning all systems in a generation since PS2/Gamecube/Xbox. I purchased an Xbox in 2002 and haven't had a system bought for me since.

Also, what's a good hard drive expansion for it? I had to go with the proprietary one for the XSX, is there anything reasonably priced that could add a TB to this?

Beyond that though I keep my PS4 around for trophy reasons whenever I have a dead multiplayer game to play I can play against myself

I work from home, so when I got the PS5 I moved our PS4 Pro to the TV in my workspace and can use remote play on my downtime.
