I disagree strongly. If there's a topic discussing the death penalty itself, or someone who is being sentenced to the death penalty, then sure. But this topic is primarily about a victim, and it comes off as disrespectful to them. Do you see the difference?

Is it though? How is it any more disrespectful than calling for the death penalty in the first post? You can't just say whatever you want because you're venting your frustration and expect everyone to agree

Either way, we'd gain more from psychoanalysis and figuring out why the fuck they would leave their daughter unattended like that for over a decade

Because the OP isn't looking to argue, rather expressing their outrage over the situation. If you disagree with the death penalty, just post something like "lock them up and throw away the key". Don't pick a fight in a topic about a victim

Depending on how you define in specific "lock someone up", you might find me agreeing.

The priority is the person being placed in conditions where they would not have the freedom to do what they did again.

As for dropping the argument against the death penalty, no, I don't think I will. Not until it's abolished.

And you say "in this topic" like there are topics I shouldn't. What topics would those be? The kind where people's emotions run high? The very reason the death penalty continues to exist is because of emotions.

Once again, TC in their opening post said "death penalty". They put the argument on the table from moment one.

I'd take it further and say the highest priority should be assessing the parents and figuring out exactly what led them to do what they did. In an ideal world, that could be used to lessen the chances of something like this happening again. An opportunity not granted if you jump straight to the death penalty

The death penalty is too easy of an out for some. My friend was killed by a racist homophobe, a couple of months ago. I figure prison is the perfect place for the idiot.

Im glad Cyricz attempted to use this topic to bring up the unethical nature of the death penalty, usually in topics like this where people clamor for it the victim was so brutally fucked up that it feels uncomfortable of me as a human to even bring up the argument that its wrong, but this is a much more appropriate situation and story to have that discussion and lecture others why we shouldnt want the death penalty, thanks for your contribution Cyricz!

The funny thing is I guarantee you a sizeable chunk of the people saying these people deserve death dont even actually support the death penalty but were just having a momentary emotional outburst to the absurd and tragic level of brutality in this story, but I guess true heroes feel we should take the opportunity to lecture people on the wrongness of wanting death for heinous murderers whenever the situation presents itself.

Its not normal or healthy to be this upset about someone saying that they dont think the death penalty is good
