Why does everyone get excited about cake

Cheap cake is fluff with too much frosting on the outside.

Good cake is thick with thinner icing on the outside but more icing in the center.

Pie is underrated. Cake is more popular at celebrations is because it's easier to make in bulk and decorate than pie. And I guess little kids would get extra disgusting eating birthday pie vs cake. Imagine the carnage of a cherry birthday pie at a 5 year old's party

Cheesecake I can dig, but I've never had a cake I really enjoyed. Box, homemade, half classy restaurant, small restaurant known for quality food, etc. I generally don't enjoy baked sweets in general though and that confuses the fuck out of people.
