ce imma fuckin scream this bitch brought over TWO cats and one litterbox and refuses to fucking change it

She wont do dishes, wont help clean the house and wont change the litterbox for cats she brought over because it triggers her. Call me insensitive but this has been going on for years now with no attempt at progress. I am so frustrated to the point of tears for having to everything for her.

She doesnt even do that anymore. She quit her job, realized she cant pay rent if she has no money, then moved in her gf and HER two cats so that the gf can pay her rent. So essentially theres an extra person and extra animals and my rent is still the same

Thats not a roommate thats a dependent child so make sure you claim them as such on your taxes.

My first two roommates one I ended up chasing down and he fell and I kicked him and threw his shoes in the lake and then he secretly moved put when I was at work a few days later.... the second one was just the absolute worst and most dramatic guy ever and refused to clean.

Roommate one deserved it believe me.

Yeah I have one cat and one box and literally its a couple mins a day tops to clean it.

Agreed. Im probably getting another box on my next paycheck.

She claims she cant stand the ammonia smell. But if she cleaned it regularly that wouldnt happen. Im at a loss on what to do other than look forward to moving out in about 6 months

Funny thing is, I find the cleaning/scooping part fine/easy. The hard part is actually getting the scoop out/put away and the rest of it.
Then again I'm probably one of a few that actually had others in the house actively pile stuff on/around the box for several years. If the box is easy to access and doesn't require hoisting 30-40 pounds each time, then there's no excuse. I literally once pulled a back muscle once, because apparently if the box has a top/shell, it doubles as a shelf to put things.

Yes. Rent is extremely expensive even in the smaller city I plan on moving to. I'll need to save up to afford the whole move, but I'm not able to work full time til August. It's why it's taking so long. BUT I should have my own place with no roommates. I'm so excited ^^

Well wait, why doesn't her girlfriend clean the litterbox either? Does she have some bullshit trauma excuse too?

I'm guessing moving out isn't an option, so I second the suggestion of getting the authorities involved. Something like animal control, or the society for the prevention of cruelty to animals. Make a written log of everything that they are not doing for the cats and everything that you end up having to do for the cats. And take pictures. So you can prove that they are not caring for their cats.

Edit: Oh I just saw above that the gf isn't actually moved in yet. Well hopefully that resolves the issue. Otherwise... start up that log.

The trauma thing is.. overstated imo. I'm not her, so it feels wrong for me to judge but I've been through some shit and have managed to do household tasks just fine >.>

To be fair she does have a disability with her foot so she can't walk all that well. It's a big reason why she quit, since she was working retail. But she refuses to apply for desk jobs so idk anymore

I dont mean to be harsh but this is ridiculous, you need to talk to the landlord/property manager about either getting her out of there or breaking your lease off early so you can move out sooner.

I can count that retail jobs can fuck your legs up after a few years, because America has this fucking stupid 'You have to be on your feet at all times while working!' nonsense going on.

But unless her disability outright prevents her from cleaning up after her cats, that's not an excuse.

Tell them that if it isn't cleaned out daily that you will surrender the cats. Let them know that animal abuse and their disrespect for you and your other roommate will not be tolerated. Give them a week and if they haven't started cleaning the litter box take the cats to the spca, or humane society or whatever the animal shelter in your area is called.

Its just a dirty litter box. Theyre easy to clean and why hasnt it been brought up if shes got trauma then why have the cats in the first place? Its not right to let the cats suffer in this situation and I think the right thing to do is pick up the litter clean up yourself until you can move out. It also wouldnt be terrible to secretly adopt them to a responsible home either and just say they got out of the room mate asks.
