I thought Pai Mei in cinema lore was largely evil? My interpretation of the rock incident was that he was simply offended that she tried to kill him with a rock while his back was turned. Thats the equivalent of getting shot in the back in old western lore. The victor would be shunned as a coward

Dart theory is interesting, but I watched the video again in .25 speed and it doesnt look like he uses it. If it even is a dart. To be honest, it certainly doesnt appear to be.

I'd chalk that up to Tarantino being stylistic. It'd be pretty tough to actually spit a dart like that, so it would require some kind of special effect which just wouldn't happen in the old school martial arts movies this scene is imitating. The "ping" noise is almost certainly meant to indicate that it's a dart.

Her response is also a little overblown if he's just shoving her off his shoulder. It makes more sense that he hit her with a dart.

Well hes throwing her back while breaking her grip on his neck with just a flex of his upper body. Not even using his hands. Thats fairly significant strength. Dont recall a ping sound. Ill have to rewatch a clip and listen for that.
