By talking shit about their own product and actually making improvements, Dominoes increased their revenue substantially.

Netflix should do the same, by mocking their own shows (much like The Simpsons mocked Fox in the 90s) while improving on programming.

They would gain the hearts of their subscribers through humor, gain new subscribers, including the lost ones because they've shown the ability to change, and they would reach new heights.

Someone get Net Netflix on the horn so I can get a job there!

Netflix: Boy are we dumb. We keep raising prices while putting out mostly garbage content.

Customer: So are you going to lower your prices and improve your content?

Netflix: Uhhhh... no.

Because that alone won't help Netflix.

They probably need to abandon the release everything at once model. Weekly releases allows more more water cooler talk, more online discussions, more people to join the season while it is fresh. Game of Thrones when it was being released was the biggest topic for months out of the year. Stranger things in its next release will probably be most talked about for 1, maybe 2 weeks. By then all the big fans will have seen it, then it will continue to get stragglers for a long while but not enough to elevate it.

Please don't get this confused, this wasn't me mocking Netflix (I don't work for them), this was literally me offering an idea and asking what people thought.

Constantly raise prices, lose the best chunks of your library, cancel most of your shows before they can take off, produce way too many of said go-nowhere shows, crack down on password sharing, and add commercials.

I'm not sure who, but a LOT of people there need to be fired. Because this is the absolute worst profit strategy I have ever seen.

I was thinking the same thing.

The all at once model makes it so people can binge, yeah.

But the week over week model will keep people hooked, and will keep people from cancelling because they can't binge, and will have to hold their subscription for months at a time because of it.

Unpopular opinion but Dominos got way nastier after their big reinvention, which only happened bc of the backlash they got from that video of some hick employees picking their nose with cheese then putting it on the pizza & farting on it

Very unpopular opinion because they stopped using powdered cheese.

Where are you from to where you would use that comparison?

Honest question.

Nah, they should hire the Dr Squatch soap guy and have him shit talk all of the other streaming services.

Have him start the video with "Listen up, the service you stream with? It's shit."

It seems like Netflix was doomed from the beginning. While they started as an amazing cutting edge service, they had to add original content or they would have been left in the dust by other streaming services.

But the original content costs so much that they have caused Netflix to slowly but surely become shitty

Making original content is indeed expensive.

Because they are ONLY a streaming company, they lack the advantage other streaming services have: a large back catalog they already have the rights to. Not to mention better infrastructure for supporting original content.

In a way, yeah, they were always doomed.

Um. not a great idea? If you think making a funny commercial would gain the hearts of their subscribers through humor, gain new subscribers, including the lost ones because they've shown the ability to change, and they would reach new heights. You clearly dont understand whats going wrong in the first place.
