The worst has happened fellow Brits (and everyone else)

The Lords have accepted the law to all but criminalise protesting with vague wording such as "nuisance" and "noisy" along with giving the police vast stop and search powers on literally anyone them deem worthy of scrutiny (definitely won't be used to target specific groups of people!) and gleefully included the numerous ways to target travellers in the country (and other related minorities) and how all this can apply to an individual and not just a group of people protesting.

And you can be punished for not doing what the police would ask you, even if they HAVE. NOT. TOLD. YOU.
Yes, punished for not doing something you have yet to be told.

https://www.amnesty.org.uk/press-releases/uk-dark-day-civil-liberties-deeply-authoritarian-policing-bill-passed-lords

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-56400751

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/electoral-commission-elections-bill-independence-b2067888.html

Along with this. The controversial Voter ID laws have been rammed through - conveniently just before the elections in a week, definitely not suspicious! It doesn't come into effect until next year, but still pretty obvious why this has been brought in given we've had less than a 100 cases of fucking fraud in who knows how many years, and near a thousand rejected in one year, for not having the right ID who never ended up voting where it was trialled. It doesn't exist and this is solely to prevent people voting against the Tory filth.

The government has now given itself vast control of the electoral commission which had been independent beforehand (as it should be) so now they get to control the people meant to be overlooking elections and watching for the sitting government meddling with free and fair elections.

Toppling statues of slaving shit bags will see you in jail for 10 years

And so on it goes.

Why are we so passive in the UK? We the fuck aren't we rioting like they would in other countries and how we HAVE in the past when the government continues to fuck us over and spit in our face?

Fuck the Tories and anyone who supports them at this point. Sheer fascist wannabe scum.

Damn, that sounds bad.

It seems like theres always been conflict of some sort in the UK, but not allowing protests is huge.

They're "allowed" but just under extremely strict and very vague wording as none of the conditions are actually defined. Which essentially means any and all protests can be shut down on the whim on the government because someone spoke loudly or it was noticed.

So basically all but banned.

I can hope, but far too many in this country want these protest laws passed due to various recent protests where people blocked roads. The Tories are great at angering and whipping up the idiotic and hateful masses sadly.

Guns are legal in the UK. There's a lot of restrictions on how you're allowed to transport and store them but if you're going to be shooting up parliament those restrictions don't really seem like the main obstacle to revolution.

UK population is really pro-authoritarianism. There was surveys during covid about "how long do you think [business] should stay closed?" and something like 20-30% of people (or maybe it was just older people I can't remember exactly) said nightclubs should be permanently closed. You know, just legally don't allow them anymore. The UK is filled with curtain twitchers tutting at their neighbours doing stuff they don't like.

Once they get in, I bet with almost 100% certainty they will push for similar laws. We both seem to influence each other with how our right wing parties/policies shift sadly. And the citizens who fall for the vile propaganda spewed out by those pushing the related views.

The government has also given itself much more control of the media. The chair appointed to the BBC is a conservative donor and former banker, and the BBC has had its revenue cut with plans to cut it even more. They are selling off Channel 4 ( a free public network that is funded through advertising) partly because their reporters dared to challenge government ministers. And of course the majority of the newspapers are owned by right wing companies.

Here is a short overview of the situation. https://www.mediareform.org.uk/media-ownership/who-owns-the-uk-media

People don't understand what is going because it's hard to find out.

I was following one of the votes in the House of Lords (tweeted from a Green Party rep) and she explained that the tory votes were disciplined, staying late into the night to ensure things got through. The Opposition was ground down, many of them old people and tired out from a long day. it's crazy the way things work here - the House of Lords can try to alter parts of bills but they don't meet in the morning or follow a normal working day. Often finish their debates at around midnight.

All the various scandals (party gate etc) are useful to keep eyes away from the really serious things that are being done. Johnson explained in an interview that distraction is how he works - throws a dead cat into the room and let\s people get annoyed about it. Very effective.

Yup. Forgot to add all that in my current outrage. Also many issues with Tories wanting to withdraw from various Human Rights acts as well.

It's fucking terrible and my hope that people will vote Labour to stop it all is growing less with each day as the media hammers home how much they can shit on any and all minorities if they keep voting Tory. And by the time they realise they have stripped themselves of all rights, it will be too late.
