Probably not. Pretty much everything we do revolves around the use of electricity.

Right now. But we used to use whale oil for lanterns, wood burning stoves, etc.

Yeah, but a ton of overhauling would be necessary to move away from electricity as a power source.
  • Buildings and houses would need to be re-wired
  • Devices would need to be built differently to accept a different power source
  • Power generation would need to be revamped entirely. The vast majority of we currently use to generate power is used to generate electricity at some point. Wind turbines, water turbines, nuclear power plants, coal plants, etc. are all used to convert energy into electricity. Even gasoline that goes into vehicles is used to generate electricity to power components in the vehicles.

We would essentially have to create an entirely new power grid and go through the process of installing that infrastructure globally. Not to mention all the new regulations that would need to come along with it.

Electric cars are still on the rise despite gas stations being much more common than charging stations.

Yeah, but again, gas is also used to generate electricity.

This is why electricity is king - anything that can spin a magnet around can be converted into electricity.

Good luck figuring out how to power everything outside of using electricity.

You'll go down in history if you can figure out a more efficient method.

Yeah... I'm not an electrical engineer or anything like that, but IMO, electricity feels like one of those things we discovered that is just the root of how most things need to be powered.

We'll find ways to make things use electricity more efficiently and find ways to generate electricity more efficiently, but... I doubt we'll move on from electricity entirely.

Perhaps we can harness the power of the sun, or dark energy. Maybe electricity will be considered inefficient.

We already harness the power of the sun with solar panels and use it to generate electricity.

Electricity is just a form of energy. You can't do anything with the electricity (besides electrocute things) until you convert it into some other type of energy so it doesn't make any sense to try to get off it as it's mostly a delivery mechanism of energy and not the energy we actually use.

We already use those. We just turn that into electricity. Heck, the US can't even get to "ye olden" times with its electrical systems and instead makes due with systems put in place because we were scared of what could happen with too much electricity being around. We aren't going anywhere soon.

Photons don't have enough mass to make wheels move, so I don't know why you're trying.

You'd have better luck with a water hose & paddles to spin a tire than to use light to move a wheel.

The question is...when will society stop paying for a finite resource to power homes and develop a solution that frees people from money slavery? Right. People tried that and evil did everything it could to stop that. Resulting in people getting killed for "threatening" the corporations stranglehold on society. People made those inventions for Humanity's benefit. Not a sad bunch of evil souls to remain in control of populations.
