Feels like Im really missing out. Im trying to imagine it by I just cant. Like if you imagined a pair of shoes on a table, can you walk over to the table and walk around it and see every angle? This shit is wild. Its like when I learned my vision is shit and I needed glasses and seeing clearly for the first time and learning that normally people can actually see things
Works for me. Guess this is 1 perk of living in your head all your life

but yea, I sometimes get a reaction when I think about spicy/sour stuff.

I can make myself sweat just by thinking about something spicy I've had.

I cut movies in my head. Time shots and everything. Rotate objects like I'm in a 3d program. Not trying to brag but it is fun.

I can do that, pick up them, and feel them in my hands. I can wear them on my feet, too.

Sigs are rather pointless, except if it's to showcase animation and images.

Keep doing it, and maybe you too could someday join the order of the golden sprout.

But... I said I'm an artist and I don't have problems with picturing things in my mind's eye :|

This is an issue for myself when I Dm, as I tend to forget people dont have this ability as well as most. Theater of the mind is really powerful.

Is this similar? I saw this a few months ago and I thought it was interesting. I'm more of a 2/3 type of person.

Interesting post. I'd say I was a 3 on that scale. I can imagine things, but it's almost colorless/monochromatic. Also, the poster who mentioned daydreaming with their eyes open... I do that constantly. Sometimes it gives me panic attacks, and I suddenly question my own existence and lose my sense of self/where I'm at.

And while people with aphantasia show the same pupillary light reflex: They don't show it during visualization!

Could this explain some of the issues with eyewitness testimony?

How do you know if anything you see is real if you can just imagine whatever you want?

No joke, I actually try to avoid lying for this exact reason.

When I lie about having done something that I didn't, or lie about needing to do something to get out of a commitment, I will imagine myself doing that thing.

Days later, the image will pop up into my head as something I already did and I confuse it with a memory and not a lie I made up. I have to actually run through the whole "memory" in my head to see what happens next, and if I realize that the memory just ends, then it was just something that I made up and didn't actually happen to me.

Other times, I'll tell someone "I can't do x because I have to do y", when "y" is a lie I made up cause I don't want to hang out, then later in that evening before bed, I'm like "oh crap, I forgot to do y", and it takes me a moment to realize that I didn't really need to do it, but I definitely imagined myself doing it.
