Somehow it's the one Halo game I've never played. Playing it on Series X at 120 fps. It certainly has a very Halo CE vibe.

The sound mixing is absolutely awful, though

Not my favorite Halo gameplay wise, I did not like the bloom, armor abilities, DMR, etc. Felt a bit too much like COD and not enough like Halo 3 in my opinion.

I really liked the campaign though, cool story and characters with a really good atmosphere

Unfortunately the sound was fucked when carried over to the MCC. Years back I remember there being some talk of rerecording a bunch of the sound effects from the developers, but idk if that got done or how far it went.

It's straight up seems wrong. Not only is the volume balancing messed up, pretty much everything just sounds not right. Including the voices.

You'll see people with a lot of different opinions. From what I've gathered from the hardcore fans, as someone who's played all the Bungie games but I'm not hardcore, is that Reach is not concerned about balance whatsoever. But the guns do feel really good. IMO the gameplay feels really good, for me it's the best feeling game of them all. Wish it had dual wielding. The art and the campaign are epic. The story is the most cinematic of them all.

Shame they didn't stick with the aesthetic. Only time Spartans look as tough as they should, as opposed to having a suit made of 300 bits and pieces stuck to a leotard.

I can't get over how good this campaign is.

Although I will say you can definitely see the influence Call of Duty had on it.

It's got vibes of BROWN SHOOTAN GAME aesthetic which I don't like, but it still very much feels like classic Halo.

Is it as good as halo 2 back in the day? I stopped when 3 came out cause it sucked. Never bothered with 4.
