Hands down most depressing series finale in a cartoon. It was so depressing, they never aired it on Nick Jr. back in the day. toreysback posted... maya the bee I wasn't really into the show. However, I learned that it was based on a book series that is a foundation of modern German children's literature. The show and 70s cartoon (yah, it aired on Nick in the 80s, but the cartoon is older) was so popular over there and in Spain that Maya appears in pop culture references. That show was really unique amongst kids' shows. It wasn't really funny or goofy, it didn't try all that hard to teach you things, it was just a fantastical world with good storytelling. The Noozles were about the daughter of an archeologist who adopted anthropomorphic koalas. The koalas fell through a gate from another dimension and ended up at Uluru (Ayers Rock) in Australia. "Dangermouse" and "Count Duckula" aired in the morning before the Nick Jr block.
