Though I would obviously worship them pharder if they ported GBA+Path of Raindance instead. What game came out after awakening that didnt get localized? Fates got localized, Echoes got localized, Three Houses got localized. Am I missing something?

I ended up liking Anna the most which I'm sure is weird for most of the Fire Emblem community lol.

EDIT: I also liked Severa a lot too but I think that was in Conquest which released later on and not in this game. I think Conquest had 3 characters from the 2nd generation of Awakening

Oh I don't deny that Awakening succeeding is why the series is still going. I just don't agree that it was dying. More of just Nintendo not wanting to continue funding a niche series.

But looking at the sales numbers, every Fire Emblem that released outside of Japan surpassed 250k sold. That seemed like an unnecessary threat on Nintendo's part.
