I didn't assume anything. It's easy to knock someone and criticize them without opening yourself up for criticism. Let's hear some of your music to see how it stacks up.

As long as you're having fun, that's the most important. Just don't expect to make a living out of it. As for myself, I only play the piano. I'm far from being good enough to make a living out of it. I'm also not interested in practicing for extended periods of time to become pro. It's not a life I want. I've learned to play the saxophone in a music class in high school. I hated it.

My strength is in using music editing software to compose or remix existing soundtracks. I don't have a lot of original compositions, as I prefer remixing. It's something I do as a hobby, but I could probably make a living out of it if I studied music theory at the university. However, I don't feel passionate enough to pursue this career path.

Do you crititize AAA games and blockbuster movies? Can you produce such games and movies? You don't have to be an expert to have an opinion.

Having an opinion is fine, but you don't always have to voice it. And if you do, you could at least offer some constructive feedback instead of a brainless comment like "it sucks".

And it's one thing to criticize a company or a product. It's a whole 'nother enchilada to crack on some individual who's putting themselves and their labor of love out there. You can argue that TC opened themselves up to criticism by putting this out there, but jumping in the topic and saying "it sucks" just comes across as being a dickhead for the sake of being a dickhead.

Again, I'm not calling you out for simply having an opinion. I'm calling you out for how you express it, and who you express it to.

It's okay, @Grendel_Prime I'm used to people like him. Worse, actually. I used to live near Berklee and everybody hated on everything that didn't incorporate 15/16 time signatures or use super-complex chords and stuff. Most of those guys never made it in a successful band either, for what it's worth! For the record, I actually really like prog music too it's just that this particular song didn't call for it.

A more detailed reason why he didn't like it might not have helped anyhow, as it's pretty much how I envisioned this song to be like.

Alright, I'll try to give you more constructive criticism. But first, I must tell you that I didn't think the video was made by you. I thought you were shitposting or something, or perhaps just saying that you liked that video. Now that's out of the way, let's begin.

The two main reasons why I dislike the song are 1) your singing and 2) the genre. When it comes to the instrumentals, I may be biased against it due to my tastes. The same cannot be said about the vocals however. It almost seems like you're just talking at times, and there's no melody or harmony in it. I do, however, find the "peaks" somewhat decent, e.g. 0:43 to 0:53. The lyrics are bland and unimaginative, but I don't think you were trying to write something really special. It might as well have been on purpose, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Next up is more positive. The part where you're grimacing at 0:34 is weird and grotesque, but I'm pretty sure that's what you were going for and you succeeded. I think it works. It's trashy, but in a good way. The costumes are good for such an obviously low budget. They also fit the theme. You could have used actual surgical masks, but you went for exaggerated humor. The plague doctor is also a good idea.

Thanks for taking the time to say all that. With this genre you either like it or you dont, I dont think theres really an in-between option for that stuff haha. Im no singer (obviously) however most of the backups are trashed up on purpose to kind of fit the song better. Luckily Im in a new band with someone who can actually sing so I can just focus on bass! Were very very early on so its a pretty exciting time all around.

This video though- ugh oh man for a sub 2 minute song it took me almost all day to shoot, edit, and compile. First off, if you have ever wanted to get Movavi studio for video editing DONT, its just terrible. It crashed way way too many times which is pretty common. Next thing was when I shot the drum segments I had my iPhone upside down so the footage was all upside down. I edited those parts to flip vertically, which looked great and smooth but for every exported video the stupid thing couldnt handle it so theres a small pause at the start of each shot involving the drums.

This bugged the absolute shit outta me so I kept trying new things and changed a ton of settings and re-compiling the video to try and get one without that pause. Six versions in and they all had it. And compiling this takes about 8-10 minutes so that adds up really fast. The only way itd not have the pause would be to keep the drum footage as-is, or appear to be playing upside down. Oh the humanity!

That mask is cool but man I could hardly breathe or see with it on, after the dancing bits I thought I was gonna pass out haha. Ill make no money off it and didnt expect to, its just a big hobby of mine and has been forever now.
