Please no spoilers beyond Episode 3.

So first of all, I can really see the seams of the Telltale style story. I know this decision will lead to a bad thing and this one is the moral one that will come back later on. Takes a lot of the urgency and importance out of making decisions. Not too big a problem.

However, I feel like none of my choices have really mattered that much. I know I avoided one or two real bad things, but ultimately, they don't feel like they've shaped the story or my little brother at all. The bad things are going to happen regardless, it's more "Do I want to make it worse?" I'm basically choosing the good moral options to avoid guilt more than anything else.

But I'm on Episode 4 now and it's just one bad event after the other. I can enjoy me some misery porn, but this just feels like slogging through the shit. Just got done with the scene with the racists harassing Sean when he was sleeping in a car in the desert. Why was this scene here? Seriously. It seemed to serve no purpose. I knew they weren't going to kill me cause then the game would end and I'm already royally fucked with a missing eye and the cops after me. We already established that Sean faces racism. Felt like it was just "Well ya wanna degrade yourself or get beaten up again?" Lose/lose that is just there to go "Boy this sure is a tough life."

Shame cause there's good stuff here and I was enjoying it until around Episode 3. It's not a trainwreck or even a bad game, but it's not very enjoyable to play and it isn't deep or well written enough to just be some emotional experience.

Hopefully it ends stronger.

Alright this didn't happen.

This is just a badly written story. Very poor. Whoever was responsible for the story here is completely incapable of creating the type of narrative they were going for.
