Original plan was to have him change appearances over time as he became more and more indoctrinated. There's even dialog still in the game at the end about Sovereign "upgrading" him. I like keeping the original versions pretty close to what they were, but this might have been one change I'd have liked. I mean Saren's at the beginning of the game talking to the council going "Nuh uh.
