The AC adapter (the cord, not the battery) is getting hot. EXTREMELY hot. Only happened a couple of times, though this last time it got so hot that it actually stopped providing power to the laptop entirely. Unplugged it to let it cool down.

Seemsreally odd. I just got this. That would likely be an issue with the AC adapter, and not my laptops battery, correct?

A key rule is that if it's too hot to touch it's malfunctioning. Contact them and get it replaced.

Gaming laptops do get really hot though. My old one got hot enough where it melted my hard drive when I played sims 4

my guess would be some sort of short circuit in the wiring, extra likely if it looks at all damaged

The block, specifically. Wire is fine. Doesnt look damaged, just got it about 5 months ago and take good care of it.

Uh, weird elitism here. I have a great desktop setup. On break at work super often, so I picked up a cheap laptop to pass the time.

Kind of sounds like the charging brick isn't properly rated for the amount of power the laptop is drawing to charge. How many Watts is the charging brick? You said it was a cheaper laptop. What make and model is it?
