What if you were with another person and she thinks they left the number and she calls them. You think you are in, but when she arrives for your date she is instantly mortified that she got the ugly one.

If you do and get rejected you can never eat there again. She'll be like oh shit here comes that creepy guy I turned down

Yea this is the position that I hold and why I would not want to do it, but OMG the responses. It kinda sucks because generally people in the service industry are really good, kind, and interesting people and you might find someone who vibes with you but putting them in that position would be too awkward.

A lot of restaurants dont have bus boys. Regardless the tip sheet always goes to the waiter.

There's nothing wrong with it. People have to meet somehow. Sometimes they will like it. Sometimes they won't, but awkwardness will end quickly.

That is really old school right there. That way you dont put her on the spot. If shes interested youll hear from her. If not move on.

Idk if there's a difference between bartender and waitress. Feels like there is.

Ive banged a couple of bartenders at the bars I used to frequently visit. Dont do it the first time and dont come off as thirsty. They get paid to flirt.

It's socially taboo but I don't think it's that bad, especially if you're just giving them your number and leaving it up to them. They're still just humans who may or may not want to date

Lots of cheap ass places that don't do busboys anymore even years before the pandemic.

I've only done it if it's very noticeable that they're interested. If they sit down and start talking to you for a little bit, it's probably a good sign. Ive run into situations where they blatantly ignore everyone but me at the table and I never followed up. I'm not sure exactly where the line is. I just always followed my gut.

While I likely wouldn't do it and unlikely to work, I think it is okay if a number is left. That way they aren't put in an awkward situation. If you literally ask them while still sitting at their table? Yeesh.

I wouldnt say its creepy, but unless youre like a 10/10 UltraChad, they dont want you bothering them while theyre working.

If youre very good looking then its alright.

I had a friendly GMC store manager I had chatted with. It seemed like I might have been able to ask her out, but I didn't want to look like a fool. And she seemed like she might have been just being nice and bored.
So I don't ask anybody out at their respective places of work.

But how do people get together? A myriad of ways that, for me personally, never involved asking someone out while they were at work and serving me.
