Just started watching phase 4 of the marvel movies. Yeah, I didn't particularly care about a character who isn't even alive anymore, it just felt like a pointless story, but entertaining nonetheless.

I was not expecting Rachel Weisz to be a good guy, I kept thinking she would be the key mastermind of whatever the plot of the movie was. I think I was reminded of Charlie's Angels 2 where Demi Moore plays a former agent bad guy, so I thought they'd do the same thing here but they went in a different direction, with some dude somehow having an organized secret agent network all by his lonesome that no one else, not even Shield, knows about. Whatever.

But I actually liked the characters and while I was not expecting a whole happy ending with "the whole family is back together now" they were all pretty good, I liked that newcomer little sister and the dad from stranger things was entertaining enough.

But if that Florence Pug is gonna be a replacement scarjo/black widow, I'd rather not.

And what is the deal with Elaine from Seinfeld and her midlife crisis purple streak, is she supposed to be madam hydra

Yeah, it was alright

It's bottom of the barrel stuff. Probably not the very worst in the MCU, but not far off.

It starts off pretty decent, then ends pretty bad. I would say it is below average. Still really hate what they did with Taskmaster.

shes in Hawkeye and had some amazing scenes

it wasn't bad, but not tgat good either.
pretty meh, especially since it's just a filler story.

Tried watching it once and pulled the plug near the end. For me, it was just to boring

I'd say it's just okay but it would've been a good Phase 1 movie tbh.

^ I think that's the key, it would have been good, but not great if placed in it's correct place chronologically but also putting it out as a prequel so even by the standard of an MCU that's afraid of consequences it can't have any stakes it was screwed before release.

I feel like if it had released at the proper time in the timeline it wouldve been better

obviously it wasnt even filmed back then but the end credits scene would reveal shes dead, but no one would know how it happened other than Clint was somehow involved, then throughout Infinity War everyone would think shes gonna be betrayed and then Clint never even shows up, then the snap happens and theyd think ohhh shes gonna get dustedwait she survives?

Then Endgame happens and Clint has gone off the deep end so it feels more believable that he might do something, and then the truth is revealed that he didnt kill her, he tried to save her, making the whole mystery even more tragic.

Red guard and Florence were the best parts of the movie.

i put it at the very bottom though. The first MCU film where I actually got bored during it. Taskmaster reaaalllly didnt do it for me either, weakest villain (including her puppet master) by a large margin tbh, which is saying something.

It was a decent enough movie, just years too late.

Yeah I agree with that sentiment, if it had been a phase 1 movie that would have made it higher tier. But hell, if they had just released it right after Civil War it would have been even better. Or even after Winter Soldier considering that would have been the perfect time for Natasha to reconnect with her past since she was in the limelight after the whole hydra thing.

Since this movie dealt with mind control and some magic red gas (that looks like leftover Scarlet Widow Witch dust) they really should have released it after Civil War and maybe left a teaser that this would help assist with curing Bucky's Winter Soldierness. But nope, as it stands it's just filler

No, Julia Louis Dreyfus isn't playing Madame Hydra. Hydra is over and done with in the MCU.

And don't get me wrong I did like that florence lady, she got a couple of laughs out of me I was expecting an angsty teen based on movie posters but instead got a likable character.

And I also liked the stranger things dad, was expecting him to be a lot more evil than he turned out. Instead he got a couple of laughs out of me too and I wasn't expecting him to be likable. This movie surprised me in that the characters weren't nearly as unabashedly evil as I was bracing myself for, only the main lame villain was the outright evil guy.

Say what you want about the rest of the movie, I loved David Harbour in it.

I'm playing catchup so not yet. After the 2-3 year mcu hiatus I'm back in and watching what if now. After that will be eternals, shang chi, hawkeye, spiderman, and moon knight

Not really sure why people here are slamming it. It seemed like it went out of its way to be different than a lot of the Marvel movies from Phase 3 that sort of ran together.

Yeah I kind of laugh at videos who can't summarize their thoughts in a concise way. The worst are the ones who go scene by scene from frame to frame to nitpick why something is so terrible.

It got screwed over by Covid as well. Wasn't it the first movie to hit Disney+ instead of theatres after getting pushed back several months? So for some people, it unintentionally got the stigma of being a straight to video release instead of being good enough for the theatres. Not to mention being like the first movie to come out post-endgame, so almost like it was just an afterthought movie as well.

that moment when the dad asked, were they jumpy because of their period and they nonchalantly answer with "we can't get periods, our womb was removed" was awkward.

I know the movies say "shit" sometimes, and have some violence, but that part had me thinking, "ummm...this is supposed to be a Disney movie", lol.

I was talking about the kinda torture the young girls in the program go through, such as their wombs removed, from the post I was responding to.

Joking about the forced hysterectomy was in really poor taste especially since at the time there was a fuckwad doing it in America to women in ICE detention camps.

I thought it was okay. But really disliked Taskmaster reveal.

I thought it was down there as one of the worst Marvel films. It showed promise for the first 20 minutes, but just devolved into the most generic, predictable Marvel film yet. It was so by-the-numbers.

I agree that it was not bad. Not particularly great either.

My biggest gripe with the movie was Nat's immunity to fall damage. Cap gets away with that because he's a literal super-soldier, and Nat taking the same kind of bone-crunching tumbles and walking it off every time just makes her look silly and retroactively deflates Cap's powers.

that car crash in the subway is the worst part. There's no way she would have survived that. Even Captain America would have been fucked up by it.

When he was going on about "pheromones" I half expected him to say "females" and typical cringy stuff like that.

Also um they have specifically mentioned several times in shows and movies about the secret agents program removing black widow's uterus and how she can't have kids, it was a whole subplot in avengers 2. So I'm confused by that other post up above

sorry, I can't even remember anything about Avengers 2 outside of Ultron and Scarlet Witch.
