Is there a single setting that can change this or will I need to fiddle with all the controls? There's a different menu for everything-- 'Adventure', 'Battle Command', 'Battle During Input', -- on an on.

And the game won't even recognize my DualSense even though Steam configuration is fully set up for it.

God fucking damnit none of my controllers fucking work anymore. Xbox controller disconnects randomly, Switch Controller is fucking backwards, and the DualSense is a giant pile of incompatible shit with a 2 hour battery life.

Is that backwards? I never noticed. If you can't change it I still recommend powering through because it's a really good game. Especially if you're familiar with the series and Dragon Warrior (Quest).

I like Yakuza 0 and 1 a lot. I lost my Yakuza 2 save because GamePass PC is a terrible service that doesn't backup saves to the cloud though.

I'm sure I would like this game if I could play it

A is confirm, B is cancel, in pretty much every game after early SNES era. That's like, an absolute rule. It's horrendously unintuitive to reverse it imo

Not in Japan, no.

And you can flip them using Steam. That is, IIRC, the only way that you can do it.

Yakuza 0, Kiwami, and Kiwami 2 didn't have this fucking issue

No it's not. I figured out that if I get the game to think it's an Xbox controller then the prompts go to A Confirm and B Cancel as one would expect. The game is trying to force the Switch Pro to have the same button layout as Xbox, so that the confirm button is the same place on both controllers.

Well I finally got the dualsense working. Game was accidentally on the English dub. I thought the lip sync was impressive. I wonder if there's two cutscene versions for language lip sync, or if the English had to be carefully structured to match the JP?

This is making me wish that DQ3 remake would get here
