Grand Rapids Jurors Friday acquitted two men Friday accused of plotting to kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and deadlocked on charges against the two alleged ringleaders, delivering a staggering blow to the government in one of the largest domestic terrorism cases in recent U.S. history.

Chief U.S. District Robert Jonker declared a mistrial on kidnapping conspiracy charges against accused ringleaders Adam Fox, 38, of Potterville and Barry Croft, 46, of Delaware. Accused plotters Daniel Harris 24 and Brandon Caserta, 34, of Canton Township, were being freed Friday afternoon after nearly two years behind bars.

"Best birthday gift ever," Caserta told supporters as relatives yelled "Happy Birthday" inside the federal courtroom in downtown Grand Rapids.

The trial lasted 20 days, including 13 days of testimony and approximately 38 hours of jury deliberations spanning five days. Jurors six men, six women, all white heard hours of closing arguments and instructions last week after testimony and a multimedia case from the government.

In regards to the whole entrapment thing-

The defense absolutely made that argument. Saying that they were just a bunch of blowhards on a message board and wouldnt have ever gone anywhere with their talk.

The prosecution put forth evidence countering this, saying that they had already tested explosives and cases out her summer home.

I havent seen this evidence, so I dont know if it as the prosecution described it, or somebody blowing up something for YouTube likes and driving past the governors house. I assume there must have also been significant talk between them about a potential plan prior to the fbi helping them accelerate things.

If anyone has access to that evidence, Id like to see it. The jurors did see it, and it looks like they were annoyed with the feds tactics, but nobody can make the claim that the jurors were being malicious without the aforementioned evidence.

Dude and a bunch of his cronies were indicted in 1987 for seditious conspiracy to overthrow the government, a plot supposedly hatched at the 1983 Aryan World Congress, put on by the neo-Nazi Aryan Nations group.
