Go check out Platinum End if you're interested in other works by the creator. It's angels instead of death gods and shows what the author can do when he's not chained down by an editor that's telling him that his ideas are fucking stupid.

There's a certain level of predestination because each person has a specific lifespan counting down to the moment they'll die. It gets a little fuzzy when the Death Note is involved because it cuts that lifespan short which then ripples out and changes other people's lifespans. So you can't really say that Light was destined to find the Death Note because it outright breaks destiny.

L doesn't really have an issue killing people, but he does try to be "fair" about it. Anyone he was using like that was a death row inmate.

I'd say no because the Death Note doesn't factor into whatever mechanism allows shinigami to know when people are going to die and it can actually extend a person's life (like with Rem saving Misa from being murdered).

Yes, the premise is alright but it slowly devolves or outright ignores interesting aspects as it goes on and then just gets dumber and dumber

And it's not so bad for women in this one. They're varied a lot more instead of all of them being horrible. Like 1/3rd of women are actually good people, which is probably about the same for the male chatacters
