People that constantly call out and show up an hour late that barely do work when they're there.

You already don't have the employees. Maybe pay people a goddamn living wage and you'll find replacements.

This is pretty much anywhere. Only way to get fired is if you literally commit a crime. Otherwise you can be as lazy and incompetent as you want and nothing will happen.

Paying people more money is a good thing but it does not guarantee they will be better employees. Your sister's work has a management problem.

I have this problem at my work. The golden employee is married to someone who also works here, and she's fucking less than useless. They won't fire her though, because they don't want to upset him. So annoying.

There are people who won't do a good job no matter how much you pay them, so it feels like a lot of this is just some kind of cultural thing we need to fix with the country. Probably need to focus on getting schools better funding and providing childcare for parents.

Same. We got people who can load 12 trucks here but wont do anything to the guy that does 7 a day because were short staffed.

Americans are lazy.

I'm not really worrying, but I'm constantly hearing about how 3 people are doing the work of 6-8 because people just... don't show up.

And believe me, I understand this is a problem that starts from the top, but it's not fair to others. These people aren't skipping work to protest the corporate elite. They're just inconsiderate assholes who aren't getting paid anyway since they don't show up.

I don't understand the logic of employers. Pay a good wage, and you can find better employees. Nobody who is smart and motivated wants to work for the bare minimum.

The logic is to cut operating costs to maximize profits for themselves and their shareholders.

But they shoot themselves in the foot by losing their best employees who get real work done, and are left with new people.

Yup. Easier for management to bitch about shitty workers and constantly being short staffed than to actually fix the problem. Because fixing the problem costs money and costing money is bad. Makes shareholders big time sad.

Exactly. My old pharmacy is an absolute shit show since they lost the entire staff and have gone through 5 PICs in about a year and a half. Serves them right for not doing anything for good employees.

I told her she needs to get out of that shit hole. It won't get better.
