Which one?

https://gamingxnews.com/web-stories/skyrim-vs-dark-souls-which-game-is-better/

"Skyrim outclasses Dark Souls"
Lol what a fucking joke XD

Skyrim is everything wrong with AAA gaming.

Despite trying to use open world as a point in Skyrim's favor they still include a backdrop of Yggdrasil from Elden Ring.

The combat is boring, mindless and spammy. While I dont doubt Skyrim has more combat options, I think its more of a dumptruck load, so things that really dont have as much satisfaction as you would like.
The only point here I would concede to Skyrim is yes it has infinitely more mods.

The massive world isnt a plus in my opinion. The benefit about a more linear game (which I still would label DS as one as it has branching paths), is that it has the chance to setup great set pieces along the way. I despise open world games for two major reasons which are perfectly outlined in this video (https://youtu.be/S3cPJL4ISlU) but I will outline them here.

One is I hate how half the game can be walking through great open lands of nothing and how despite everything looking the same, you never get intimate with the land. Because you end up seeing so much of the same, most of these games rely on compasses, and waypoint markers to lead you otherwise you would get terribly lost. Also outlined in this video (https://youtu.be/FzOCkXsyIqo).

Secondly I hate the repeat missions that usually include, find NPC, kill X amount of enemies, collect X item. Yawnnn. It would be more fun if the world was more condensed and maybe only had each kind of quest once, twice at the most.

I have never broken anything from playing skyrim. If I tried to play dark souls, I would not be able to avoid breaking stuff.

Skyrim never appealed to me, so I've got to go with Dark Souls.

I've been able to complete the Fallout games that I've played, but I'm not too into Elder Scrolls.

I'd rather go around doing quests and exploring a world than get stomped on until I'm nothing but a pile of blood and broken body parts, so Skyrim is better.

Dark Souls is about the challenge. Skyrim is about the immersion. They don't have much in common other than being medieval high fantasy.

I can't name one character from Skyrim even though I played it for at least 60 hours. It's so generic.

To be fair it was a decade ago, yet I do remember a ton of Oblivion characters.

I fucking love Dark Souls. The entire series easily sits in my top ten games of all time (including BB, ER, and DeS). That being said, Skyrim is the greatest game of all time, and it just keeps getting better. If it didn't have mods it'd be an 8/10, but mods just make it an /10. Like fuck, I can literally mod it to be Dark Souls if I want it to be. Other standalone games have been made in Skyrim. Until another title eclipses the amount of work that's been put into Skyrim mods, literally nothing can dethrone it. My last playthrough had something like 900 mods and it was absolutely glorious. Idgaf if you think mods count or not, buy a better PC and stop being dumb.

For me personally, I enjoyed Skryim a lot more than Dark Souls and have gone on to replay it over a half dozen times. DS wowed me at first with the cool level design/shortcuts and interesting looking bosses, but ultimately it just got boring to me and I never bothered to beat it.

As someone who played both, I can say I thoroughly enjoyed Skyrim and is one of my top 10 games of all time and still play it often. I played Dark Souls and thought it was terrible. The control sucked, was boring, and nothing really stuck out to me.

The two are dramatically different games, which scratch different aspects of what I enjoy in video games. If I want a game to get absolutely lost in the world and just do my own thing, I go Skyrim. I've put far more hours into Skyrim than I have Dark Souls. If I want a more linearly focused game, I go Dark Souls.

I like Skyrim more than Dark Souls. It isn't the better game.

I could not be more certain that Dark Souls is the winner here. I started on the dumb side too, I liked Oblivion and assumed Skyrim would be pretty good, not like the pre-release hype implied but still good. It wasn't.

With DS1 I assumed the people talking it up couldn't be trusted and that the game was some combo of unfair, unreasonable or IWBTG-like. Turns out it's great. Really great. I'm starting to think it's lightning in a bottle but that's the other games in the series' problem.

Skyrim is pure homogenized mediocrity. Ever since oblivion, Bethesda has been trying to excise the rpg element out of their games bit by bit to appease console kids and make more money but they've been improving basically nothing about them as a trade except making them prettier. As a result you have a barely-rpg full of a bunch of near identical barely-dungeons to distract you from a barely-a-story

Yes mods obviously fix a lot of problems, but even then they can only do so much

The combat in skyrim feels really flaccid and lame no matter what mods I have tried with it. It's a little better than oblivion where every fight feels like you smacking a sandbag with a stick but it still has a really unsatisfying kinetic feel to your attacks and everyone has either too much or too little health and nobody seems to be able to figure out how to balance that.

There's too much world in general because Bethesda cared more about proceedurally generating terrain rather than doing anything interesting with it. I've seen mods that try to fill it but for whatever reason modded towns always end up feeling weird and lifeless, and there's never enough to make the world not feel dead.

Maybe it's just my bad luck but I have never seen an interesting dungeon modded into skyrim. People have added cool new questlines, npcs and followers but dungeons always seem to be the least focused on and for whatever reason nobody cares to do much with them

Dark Souls. Probably one of the top 5 world maps of all time in video games, rivaling both Super Metroid and SotN.

Skyrim is still barely playable without unofficial patches after all these years.

True directional movement and other related mods make the game play basically like Dark Souls, including a lock on system. There are plenty of great balance mods for combat and perk trees.

There are literally thousands of great location mods and town overhauls. There's even one that makes the entirety of Whiterun hold a massive sprawling town with different districts. There's a really fleshed out mod that adds Cyrodiil, one that adds Elsweyr, and some that add just entirely new landmasses all together. There's mods to populate all these places with dialogue and quest heavy NPCs. Further mods to make those new NPCs pretty and give them new outfits. Even further mods to update their schedules and routines and make them interact with other mods.

There's a fuckton of great dungeon mods. Most of the CC ones that came with the AE are great too.

Skyrim is literally whatever you want it to be.
