MGSV and Breath of the Wild are the only games I can think of recently that would do something like this.
Even though the graphics are way better and shinier than ever, other areas get neglected I guess since they don't need to work as hard to impress with the graphics and effects >_>

I miss that series. I wish they would bring it back. I love those old games.

Running through curtains was also really cool in Ubisoft games from that era

I remember reading an article that the ice cubes in the Tanker level of MGS2, would melt slower if they were next to other ice cubes after being spilled from the bar. Fucking bonkers that people would think to program that in and I salute them >_>

There are usually a series of videos dedicated to this sort of thing for every Nintendo game. It's not an "old game" thing.

Also a nightmare for people doing no kill runs in 3. Soldiers would drown to death if you knocked em out and they where face down in so much as a puddle.

Speaking of boobs and weird things programmers add, I'm pretty sure you already know that you can hookshot the statue's nipples in the Spirit Temple...

Maybe gamers would care more if they had to pay 5 bucks to see these features, or watch a short ad

This reminds me of something from RDR2. Despite there being a lot of hunting in the game, you can not use bear traps. They plain and simply do not exist within the gameplay anywhere. And yet, if you walk into a shop that has bear traps on the wall for display and shoot one of them, it will snap shut. This is a detail they had to add intentionally because it's not just reusing assets or animations from the game.
