I just need to make a very basic hosted portfolio website to finish school

I do not need to code it myself

Any recommendations since Angelfire died in 2004?

Squarespace? Dreamhost maybe. Or use Wordpress.

if the requirement is just "have a website", which I've also had in the odd class, you can have the most basic of all websites just from a text file. just use the most basic of html elements with no styling.

it depends on the actual requirements though.

eg, just stick mysite.html in a folder with your document files:

<a href="document3.doc">Project 3</a>

But ProBoards is free. It's message board / forum creation website, but you can just like... Make your own board, make topics for whatever subject/category, and then post in them (including putting images directly in the messages, like you can here) and link to it?

I still have the one I made for my D&D campaign and houserules, I check every once in a while b/c I still can't believe it's totally free and one day all my work will be gone

another option could be to setup your own formal webspace. use this as an opportunity to begin whatever professional web presence you would like to have, and then use it for this as well.

I like working with Wordpress. There's a few different ways of doing it, probably some free trials kicking around.
