I know it's probably one of the most cliche tropes but the farm boy chosen one is such a great trope imo

The Cavalry trope is so great when done well. It has to have the right build up and the actual moment of arrival is important too but when they hit it's amazing. Dunno how to really say it without spoilers but it happened in a blockbuster recently and they nailed it perfectly. There's also an episode of Railgun where it pretty much is the whole episode and it's probably my favorite episode of any anime because of it.

What are some of your favorite tropes?

The one where a group of heroes are in a prolonged opposition to an evil villain, going through trials and tribulations together, growing close - almost like family. And then they finally get to the villain's lair and it turns out that one of them was actually the villain in disguise the entire time. And was basically learning all of their tactics, plans, and weaknesses, to better ambush them in the end.

I can think of at least seven different stories off the top of my head that use that motif, and I always enjoy it. And have used it (or something similar) in multiple tabletop RPG campaigns that I've GMed in the past.

Bonus points if the villain winds up romancing one of the heroes as part of the process. Double bonus points if the romance is actually sincere, and the villain either spares the hero in question or the hero switches sides when the reveal comes.
