A South Carolina mom had to have both her arms amputated after being savagely mauled by three pit bulls, her family says.
Ailing victim Kyleen Waltman, 38, also lost part of her colon and may have to have a section of her esophagus removed, too, her sister said.

Kyleen remains in critical condition in the hospital since she was attacked by the dogs on a sidewalk in Honea Path northwest of Columbia on Monday.

Authorities said a man found Waltman being mauled by the dogs and was eventually able to scare the animals off by firing his gun into the air.

It wasnt immediately clear how the dogs ended up on the street.

People who have pitbulls for pets are imbeciles.

The fact is most owners just don't know how dangerous pit bulls are (maybe they refuse to) and can't handle them. They're usually the pariah of dog communities and lack self-awareness - just go to your local dog park and you can see it for yourself.

I mean just take the guy in the article for example, no sane person would even own three of these dogs. When you have a complacent and ignorant owner with a dangerous dog that's a bad situation waiting to happen. There's a reason why they're banned in civilized countries.

Yeah. At the end of the day, even if they were nanny dogs a hundred years ago, in the time since a bunch of dog fighting ones got their DNA into the pool and that intensified their aggressive demeanor. Plus with how many big dogs there are in small apartments, they don't even get a yard to run around in all day so they have too much energy and are more likely to misbehave even if they were a more calm breed. It's unfortunate but it happens.
