yes, but now there's also random battles, like old pokemon, when you walk through tall grass that you then have to load into

and it takes a good while to actually load the area

I really don't understand why gearbox makes all the maps for Borderlands stupidly big with nothing in it, more than half the time playing a BL game is just running from arena to arena while x character exposits comedic dialogue. Like what would you lose by making the maps smaller.

I'm really enjoying it actually. I was worried at first because of the only 1 tree per class, and was like blah, not gonna have enough build choices, but I got it anyway due to the DnD theme and the monsters it throws at you looking freaking cool.

Well, the monsters/theme is awesome, but I actually like the builds more for this than any of the previous (and i have not liked the last 2 (BL3 or the pre-sequel). BL2 rocked and I really liked BL1 as well, but this is the first I have really enjoyed building a character with in awhile, and I love the theme/story as well.

I still have not finished it/hit end game, but I have played a few combos already (favorite is Primary Claw with Stabbo just for the bonus crit chance and two tier 1 skills (+15% damage and +20/40% status effect damage/duration).

Claw gives me so much and the combo is just a blast. Also like the stealth active skill over the others, it honestly does as much damage (while you don't take any damage) and lets you regen your shield/heal (my shield has high capacity + heals hp when maxed...between the two I end up topped off after using stealth every 30 seconds (for 8 seconds). It's best to not get hit if possible before going in so your shields are already charging while you blast everything away in the 8 seconds and you come out with full everything and half the enemies dead hehe. Meanwhile your wyvern is blasting everything to bits as well.

Anyway really enjoying it.

Is the dialogue supposed to be funny? The only Borderlands I've played is 3 and it was so unfunny and painful I had to turn it off in the settings.

2's dialogue is decent but 3's is pretty bad and the villains were awful. Haven't played the DLC

i think bl1 had the best story, guns, maps, and dlc

wait they made that bl2 dlc into a standalone game? i mean it was kinda fun but i dont think it needed that

BL1 was great (Awesome really since I don't like FPS games).

BL2 basically improved on BL1 in every way, and I can still enjoy replaying either game.

Pre-sequel was so bad I could never finish it. I still mean to try again someday.

Same for BL3 except I have tried only twice and got less far before giving up both times. I just get bored.

Wonderlands at least so far has not gotten boring and I have already made multiple characters. I am already planning on making one of each class (even if it's just through the combo). There are 8 classes with 2 per character, but I will almost certainly make more then 4 because Stabbo is so awesome and you primarily put points in whatever combo's with stabbo.

So it's quite likely I'll make more than 8, creating one of each class in combo with stabbo (you litterally only put 10 points out of 39 into stabbo), and then trying a few other combos like the ones with 2 pets etc.

So yeah, hasn't been a BL game where I have had this much interest in playing other character builds since BL2 for me at least. Hell I didn't find interest in ANY build in Pre-seq or BL3.

Stabbo is awesome as a backup just because of it's huge crit bonus and crit in this game means you don't even need to target heads anymore (you get crits just by firing).

Even with the above setups you can re-set your stats and skill points at will, so you still have different builds you can play with those characters.

That being said the stats are mostly set for me, and for most builds I'll play. Go villiage idiot (boosts strength by 8 and MAX str by 8). Strength boosts your crit damage %.

Then max strength, max dex and put the rest into con.

With Stabbo +30% crit chance and 20 dex (+40% crit chance), you already have a 70% chance but Claw for instance (my favorite so far) gets 33% increase if you have done lightning damage (and you add lightning damage to your shots with a skill) within 12 seconds. Basically giving you 100% crit chance (other classes have ways to boost crit chance as well).

Strength gives you a huge boost to crit multiplier and you always crit. Meanwhile stabbo and Claw both give large base gun damage increases (which is multiplied by the crit boost). Claw gives fire AND lightning damage added to your shots and stabbo boosts elemental damage by 20% and duration by 40%).

The combo is awesome and you get a very strong/high damage wyvern in the mix.

Meanwhile defensively you have I think it's 12 points in con which increases your max health and ward (shields) by 25% or so, there is a claw skill that boosts max ward by 30% more, you get something around 40% damage reduction just from skills, auto-get up from wyvern if you get knocked down AND auto get max ward and get up if your knocked down (both on seperate timers).

Basically you are freaking HARD to knock down, especially if you have a vampire melee weapon (drains hp and ward by a % per hit).

Outside of the character class/build (which mind you is my favorite part in borederlands), the theme is as fun/fresh as it was in 1 and 2 (at least to me) it's not the same old boring stuff over and over from 1-4 BLs (same bandits, skrag, etc). They were fun and new in 1, still pretty fresh in 2, but by pre-seq and 3...I was freaking tired of the same stuff.

This isn't the same, there are tons of DnD enemies and it's fun to fight them. Guns are different, melee weapons are both different and.........wider ranged/cooler, with more uses. Grenades are spells and vary widely (and are more useful). There are more slots for equipment (rings/armor etc).

In every way, this game seems like a new fresh look on the genre that it created (the fps shooter rpg).

Seriously I suggest giving it a try before shitting on it.

If it's anything like Borderlands, then I can't say I'm surprised.

Loot pollution and just too much loot in general. Run through one area and get 100,000,000 guns/clothes/other items, 99.999999999% of which is just garbage, so getting items doesn't feel special in any way.

Ugh, Claw/Spore is so fun as well and you still hit very high crit chance, but you get 2 summons. Go waaay up the spore tree as well which is nice.

Too many good combos.

I only ever played the first one. I own 2 and all the DLC though.
