It was just a random Hampton Inn & Suites in Florida. The Night Auditor abandoned the hotel and a guest freaked out and called the cops.
it is not all that exciting. At 6AM there would normally only be one hotel employee on site, and apparently they are not there for whatever reason.

Hotel Investors Trust owns that hotel/franchise, and is a badly run company and declared bankruptcy last year.
https://thediwire.com/hospitality-investors-trust-begins-bankruptcy-proceedings/
Edit: it is managed by McKibbon Hospitality:

Kudos to Boytown Beach PD for their prompt response though. It's a nice low-crime area so they had several officers with downtime to help out.

The staff would be employees of McKibbon. The buck stops there. Hilton is not at a fault for bad management companies that got hired by a bad franchisee.

Do you still believe the staff should be arrested for "leaving their posts"?

If Boynton Beach is like where I live the police probably have a policy of responding to every call. The staff that left their post was probably just the $10 per hour Night Auditor. According to my friend in hotel-land, Night Auditor is a job nobody wants to do for what it pays and it's difficult to find reliable people for that spot.

I made it because this story spawned multiple 5,000 post threads on reddit with a bunch of misinformation. The entire hotel staff didn't quit, nobody deliberately shut-off keys, the cops weren't doing anything more than trying to find somebody so they could leave.

Night Auditor is the term hotels use for overnight desk clerk. They usually are the only employee there at night with most chain hotels.

You didn't answer these two questions at all?

Whether its a job nobody wants or not, do you still believe they should be arrested?

Responding to a call doesn't mean you then start assisting managers to "find someone so they could leave"?

There's stories going back to the 1970s and 80s of cops finding 24-hour gas stations or convenience stores unmanned or the employee deceased and calling the owner. It's not a new police thing.

lol @ everyone trying to shit on the TC even though he's totally right.

I worked in a hotel as a teenager and the place had a huge staff. When that story first came out I knew there was no way the entire hotel staff just quit at the same time. Makes perfect sense that the night staff walked out and people immediately jumped to conclusions.

There's also stories of people doing things that are improper from the dawn of time. I'm asking WHY you think this is an appropriate use of police time.

Also, they didn't call the owner.. they called (or tried to) staff, so how is your story relevant?

This was posted on social media earlier. I'm not sure how legit it is,

From Randall who actually WORKS there:
Im going to start off withthis is thee perfect example of why you cant believe everything you read. The entire staff on Wednesday night consist of three employees. The laundry lady, Randall the houseman and the front desk agent. Our shift is from 3pm to 11pm. We all left at the end of our shift. The night auditor who comes in at 11pm showed up 3 hours late. So again this is why you cannot believe everything you read I am Randall the houseman commenting. Questions, concerns, comments feel free to leave them. You will get the truth from me. THANK YOU

https://www.newsweek.com/viral-post-claims-show-chaos-entire-hotel-staff-walked-out-1691550?amp=1
In a statement sent to Newsweek, a McKibbon Hospitality spokesperson said they were made aware of the video, but the video incorrectly stated that employees walked out of the hotel.
"Last evening, hotel management was alerted by law enforcement that the Hampton Inn & Suites Boynton Beach was inadvertently attended for a period," the statement read. "This was a one-time incident and we will be taking the necessary precautions to ensure this does not happen again."

The business wouldn't give a fuck if they decided to lay me off and I was unable to pay my bills or get the medical treatment I needed, so them's the breaks.

The moment the employee quits, they have zero obligation to the business. Not my fault they didn't plan for a situation like this.
