Fun fact, leaving doors open in the ps3 Bethesda games increased your file size which would speed up the rate you'd get them to their respective "oversized and crashes when you try to load" threshold.

Of course, the fact that doors were also prone to have adverse reactions when you opened or closed them on an object or body just meant you should leave them closed and find other ways around the world.

Some youtuber once made a case for this being a good tell over whether or not you're getting immersed in the game: wanting to close doors behind you because you imagine it'll hinder enemies following you (or it's just general reflexive behavior), even though doing so has no actual in-game effect.

I do it if I'm sneaking around since it definitively breaks line of sight.

Otherwise you need to keep track of if people can see you through the door.
