The Timess Visual Investigations team analyzed dozens of battlefield radio transmissions between Russian forces during an initial invasion of the town of Makariv, outside Kyiv. They reveal an army struggling with logistical problems and communication failures.

All Armies suffer from communication issues.

You'd think in today's hyper-communicative world, it wouldn't be an issue

Honestly surprised they haven't just resorted to celluar device communication.

Honestly surprised they haven't just resorted to celluar device communication.

So they destroyed the cell network early on and then had to resort to unencrypted radio. That's why we have so many intercepted communications now. I assume they destroyed cell infrastructure expecting a short war and not wanting people to be able to report about what was happening as they purged Ukraine of any resistance. They didn't expect to actually fight a war and this is just one of the many results of that massive miscalculation.

I also remember reading that most of the conscripted troops had their phones confiscated prior to the start of the invasion
