yeah, everybody says "that's what new game+ is for, you don't need to do everything in one run"

like ok dudes, i have over 200 hours in my first playthrough, if i even ever start new game+, it's just to rush through and get the stupid alternate ending achievements. i think i spent enough time on it as it is

Does everyone use a guide or at least online map for playing this game? I feel like I would miss soooo many quests/dungeons in this game if I wasnt at least referencing a map when I am about done with an area to double check I got all the dungeons.

Like even when I know there is a catacombs in this cliff side somewhere after looking online, it can still take me like 5 minutes of searching to find the door, hidden in this random corner behind a bunch of trees or some crap lol

I didn't reference one until near the end of the game but I like exploring. I missed like 10-15 little dungeons and 1 or 2 actual areas. I only screwed up a couple of minor npc quests. A ton of grace sites but those don't really matter. I also did not beat areas in the intended order because I wandered all over, which I liked that aspect tbh.

It's actually not that bad to muss stuff. Most entrances for things are marked with messages and you just get used to checking cliff sides. Plus it's not like I missed out on much by not getting an ash summon or something. There's a ton of them that work fine.

I dont mind Ng + but Im having a hard time staying focused on new chars for endings. Played pretty non stop first clear.

I havent but im not really far enough to really look for anything specific.

So, I got Rivers of Blood on my second character and respeced to it and......HNNNNGGGGGGG THIS THINGS IS THE TITS! I used a Greataxe on my first playthrough and hot damn was I under powered. This thing just fucking rips through people. God I love this thing.

Yeah as much as people made a big deal about the lack of map and direction sometimes it does hinder the experience a fair bit. Especially with the NPC quests.

Like I just got that quest to give a potion to the warrior girl from a jerk make. Well currently she isn't in the hold and I already met her in that village and she has since left. Where is she now? Who knows.

On top of that in that area I found that pot man who tells me to find some girl. Looking up a guide I'm supposed to go to a nearby cave? Okay? How was I supposed to know that?

I feel like there's a middle ground that could help a fair bit. I think things can feel organic without feeling too obtuse.

It's not a dealbreaker or a major deal but I think a better balance could be found for sure.

She is definitely supposed to be at the hold after you complete that village boss. She is supposed to be down the stairs from where the blacksmith dude is at. (The first time she is at the hold she was outside the door from that all-knowing whats his name dude, so not this spot).

Even then, don't give her that potion, lol.

I might just give up on Malenia. Not having fun fighting her.

Finally got that one armor set that like probably 90 percent of elden ring players more than likely missed out on the raging wolf set:

I am finally at the home stretch of leyndell. As far as I know I made sure to get every single item/missable and did as much as I could of that sewer section (including getting that really cool blood talisman). The sheer size of this dungeon was nuts, lol.

Maliketh done!!!!

Used the Meteoric Katana for bleed damage, was way easier solo with just Mimic Tear!

I used TCs strategy and beat her pretty easily, you can just respec for this one fight like I did if you arent already a mage.

Looking for some advicemy indecisiveness is killing this game for me, lol. I spend far more time looking stuff up than I do actually playing and its annoying the crap outta me. (.__.)

Anyway

• Level 62
• Have beaten Godrick and the moon lady whose name escapes me>_>
• My goal for a while has been to do something other than my usual 2H greatsword spam
• Settled on a bleed build
• Was dual wielding Reduvia/Great Knife but decided I wanted something with a little more range
• New options are: Nagakiba, Uchi, Eleanores Poleblade

Now, Ive had a ton of fun with the poleblade but Ive had a couple friends mention powerstancing katanas is much stronger. My stats are as follows:

Vigor: 30
Mind: 11
Endurance: 15
Strength: 12
Dexterity: 34
Intelligence: 11
Faith: 8
Arcane: 20

If I want to use Naga, I have to respec to bump strength up. Also figured that would be good to swap points from dex to arcane as Ive read pumping arcane is good for bleed buildup. Making it more arcane than dex, though, seems to really drop my damage (296 to 203 for the poleblade, for example).

Thoughts/advice/recommendations? If I did respec to go naga/uchi, until seppuku at least, would double blood slash be good for arcane scaling and higher blood buildup? Stat spread rec at my level?

i think you'll probably get more damage out of powerstancing the katanas. have you considered powerstancing twinblades!

powerstancing curved swords is good for bleed. hell, just one and seppuku with blood lord's exultation is great, too

servers are down and a patch just came out for xbox, i wonder if they fixed the instant death thing where you get that talisman

Yeah I got booted off the PS5 as well. I wonder if this is the one that is about to beat bleed with the nerf bat, =/

i just finished work and was gonna play fml

crashed again. seems like 1 file was missing according to steam. since the problem occured shortly after beating the magic academy main boss I'm gonna assume it's the queen's legging that was missing again lol.

possibly the best "elemental" effect, which is funny because it used to be so bad it wouldn't even trigger on anything. its buildup was too slow

i have a really hard time believing this is the intended way to get it, it's so janky and random and precarious. all for the worst version of the talisman...? and a dagger that isn't any good unless you want an extra 1% damage for your beast incantations

Go back to Roundtable Hold if you haven't. Beating Godrick opens up a rather important door there and the old Tarnished dude has some dialogue explaining the story.

WTF I was talisman hunting and found out 1.03 fucked up the pathway to get the DRAGONCREST SHIELD TALISMAN.

Fixed now

don't forget about the paintings you find, they lead you to unique rewards, but as with all things in this game, i recommend just using a guide, there's like 7, and the hints are frankly shitty

Bleed is almost always OP on release on souls games before getting nerfed int oblivion.

I'm up to level 115 or something. Working on Capital City dungeon before finishing the Volcano Manor quests.

The Hero's Grave around Capital City was probably the most pain in ass of the three I've found with chariot enemies but you can actually run through it almost non-stop if you time it right. Maybe the other ones are like that, I don't know. But I died at least 3 times because I was a centimeter to far in front of the left/right side pillars you have to stand between.

At 210 hours played. Prolly a good 50 of that messing around in the character creator. Wanted to make a death knight looking guy for my blood build, but couldn't find an armor I liked for it, so he became a death mage instead.

Is it me or did they fuck up fall damage REALLY bad? I die from like 20 feet now. It's hard to do some easy fucking drops.

i read that fall damage feels wonky af in elden ring because in older souls games, you started taking fall damage at 5m, and died at 20m. in ER, you start taking fall damage at like 15m but still die at 20. there's also weird shit about what the game considers a "landing". i went down the side of a mountain on torrent, hopping down the cliff side in short hops, when i got to the bottom, i immediately died, even though there wasn't a single point that I was off the ground long enough to take fall damage. pretty sure the game considered only the point where i started and the point where i ended, ignored everything else in between, and called it like a 100m drop.

I even sat there for like 30 seconds on the middle of the mountain looking around to try to plan my path

I've been going through the game without trying to find everything. I want to see how much I can find just naturally by myself. That's not to say I'm not using guides. I've opened up a couple of quest guides just to see what happens if I do a certain thing to an NPC. Would explain why I am at 111 hours now and have only beaten two of the principal bosses.

This game has plenty of npc invaders to fight against. They drop some pretty good rewards most of the time so try to beat'em.

Yup that is an NPC invader, pretty sure it is some chick. They seem a lot scarier than they actually are, not too difficult to beat.

Yeah a couple of swings from my trusty +5 Lordsworn Greatsword and she bit the dust lol
